Like the title says, I got my SS 10x42 mounted to my Savage Hog Hunter .308. It is mounted via an EGW 20 MOA picatinny rail and Weaver Tactical rings. The scope is a bit high so I might have to find a pad to raise my chin up a bit.

    Total investment:

    Hog Hunter - ~$475
    Scope - $299
    EGW rail - $40
    Weaver Tactical rings - $40

    Total - $854

Looks like a heck of a combo! If the use is for general hunting I would question the scope choice though. Still, it should be able to shoot some pretty good groups.

On a side note, I see you are in Starkville. Ever go to Cowbells? Its a bar/grill type joint. I have a cousin that runs the place.

Haha, this scope will be for target shooting. I've got a Redfield 2-7x33 that I'll throw on it if I want to take it hunting.

No, I've never been to Cowbell. Too many undergrads, haha.

When I click on your photobucket photo links, the photos are very very small. Can't really see any detail.

Very nice! Have you had a chance to shoot any groups with it? I've always thought that the Hog Hunter was very reasonably priced, and I'm curious how it preforms on paper.

I haven't punched any holes with the new scope yet, but previously I had worked up a load using 165gr Nosler Ballistic Tip and achieved a .63" 3-shot group at 100 yards. I am by NO means a skilled shooter yet so expect that to shrink a bit as I get more practice.

good if all you hog shots are over 200 yards on non moving gme. Otherwise hard to pick up a running animal. Nice cheap F class gun tho...

Good thing I don't intend on hunting with that scope then. ;)

How much elevation do you have left at 100 yards with that 20 MOA base?

I just mounted the scope last night. I haven't sighted it in yet.

That particular scope has 100+ MOA of total elevation travel, so I'm guessing he'll have tons of upward travel left with the 20 MOA base.

Or put lower rings on the rifle.

Put an Eagle Stock bag on it and call it good. It gives you 1/2" height increase on the comb.

I don't think the scope will clear the picatinny rail with lower rings.
