Hey guys just wanted to share the new holster I picked up. I was looking for a quality leather chest holster that wouldn't break the bank. I was having a hard time finding a nice one under $200 bucks that wasn't super bulky for a 6" gp100. I stumbled upon Paradise Valley Leather.
http://paradisevalleyleather.com

Went to order a holster but there was no option for a 6" GP100. Sent an email and was answered first the the next morning (like 4am lol) saying just select the 4" model and put 6"gp100 in comments and he would make it for me. His customer service is what sold me. So for $125 shipped the holster was mine. Three weeks from when he holster was ordered it was at my front door. Not bad for hand crafted IMO.

Have not got to feild test the holster yet,but the GP fits great,it's comfortable and stays in place. Should definitely do the trick. One nice feature is the leather piece that links all the straps in the back. Helps support and keeps the holster in place .here's some pics. I'm 5'10 175lbs for scale KIMG0169.JPG KIMG0168.JPG KIMG0164.JPG

I like chest rigs for heavy revolvers. I always used a cheapie from soft armor when I had a 6 inch gp. That is a nice looking rig for the money.

That is one solid looking chest holster! Certainly looks like you got your money's worth with that rig.

Nice. Please keep us posted when you use it more. Always like to hear first hand about these things since they are a bit $$ to buy and not like.

Thanks! Hopefully will get some woods time in soon, will update after some more field use.

Well made a few trips into the woods with it. Absolutely love the holster. Very comfortable, sits in just the right spot, and stays put. Only complaint is the leather can be a little squeaky. Great product.

Well it's a big one if nothing else,I don't own a chest holster.Might try one with my Redhawk .44 Mag.4" barrel.

Wow. That's an impressive and good looking rig. Leather and thumb strap retention is always a big plus for me. Thanks for the link.
For the past 25 years or so I've had a Uncle Mike's Nylon shoulder holster. It fits well and can easily accommodate my "4 & "5 S&W Models 25, 28 and 629. It starting to show it's age so this may be on the horizon.

Paradise Valley holsters was formerly Clark Fork Holsters, and the fellow that used to own the company sold it to the current owner-who renamed it Paradise Valley. I had been planning to get a holster from the original owner, but didn't act fast enough-LOL!
Seems the current owner has kept the original design and workmanship quality (from the photos) which is a good sign.

The question I have for you is-how much can you adjust the straps to accommodate what you're wearing? I would use a holster like this in both summer and winter. Most pics I see of chest holsters show them being worn over a t-shirt or similar thin garment-great for the summer. But can you adjust the straps to fit on the outside of a bulky winter coat? If it can only be used inside a winter coat, it limits the accessibilty of the firearm in my opinion, and wouldn't offer much advantage over a belt holster under the coat.

Appreciate hearing your experience using this to carry in cold weather.

Thanks for the help.

For the price that looks really nice. It looks a lot more stable than the far more expensive Diamond D Leather Guide's Choice. I tried the Guide Choice when I was looking for a chest holster for my 610, buddy had one for his 629 and I really did not like the way it let the gun flop around on my chest. I would have definitely have given that a try had I now about it. I ended up with a Gunfighters Kenai and it is very comfortable and stable but nearly as expensive as the Guide Choice.

How is the thumb break? Not sure I would want the thumb break retention on a chest holster.

I was concerned about the thumb break on the inside when I bought it. But after using it it's actually really nice. Works well and don't have to worry about it getting caught on things and opening because the snap is on the inside.

There is plenty of room for adjustment for me. I have a 32" waist and chest is about 40" . The pic below is excess strapping I left about 8" in case I get fat lol. IIRC I cut about 10 inches off the strap. So there should be plenty of material to adjust accordingly. I didn't put the holster over my heavy gear. I wore it on my mid layer. My outer gear is to heavy to walk into my stand or stalk . But it was easy enough to unzip my coat to access the handgun when sitting in my tree stand.
