Checked out o Local Gun Show on Saturday. Normally I go on Sunday afternoons when people decide they don’t want to carry something home but I had to go early Saturday morning because of other commitments. Found a couple of pieces I really wanted but owners weren’t ready to really deal. Came across this nice Mod 28 no dash 4 screw from 1959 with the box. After a little haggling it was mine. Wandered around another hour mainly talking to friends I only see at shows and I was gone. On the way out, I was walking with a guy who had a Smith box and I happen to ask what he bought. He said he was trying to sell a like new Model 19 but nobody offered him close to what he wanted. I took a peek and I’m not sure it’s been fired. Also had all paperwork and tools. He asked if I was interested and of course I had to try and keep a poker face. He said to make an offer. I did trying to not insult but leaving room for the normal back and forth. He said it was best offer he had and took my offer. I was blown away. I’m sure there were dealers that would have offered more. I guess he went to the wrong few and got insulted. I would have paid a little more and still felt like it was a bargain. As is, I feel like it was a steal. Thankfully I had sold a few recently so I could finance these two.
