Okay, after posting the "Dehogger" a couple of weeks ago I started wondering what other heavily-armed vehicles are out there for us...I found these.

It looks like they were posted back in '04, so this may be a dupe. Then again I'm hoping they've made some improvements in 3 years.

Now, which one to order...

Do they make a hybrid power version that gets 45mpg ??? :p

I sure would like one of those for deer hunting, because I hate to get my feet cold. They need to add a hydraulic boom (with controls inside, of course) to reach out and load your deer. ;)
 
I bet the boom is an option.

Then again, putting that many rounds through a deer you may need the "big sponge" option instead :)
 
I was looking through their web site and saw alot of stuff that we use over in Iraq, like the rat hooks and the transparent armor, their remote gun systems look almost like the CROWS, could just be their civilian versions on the website. neat stuff
 
Quiet, no-fuel, slips in and out of places a car couldn't dream of going...

Not at all bulletproof, and you have to be in decent shape for serious E&E, but for scouting and light scavenging, it's hard to beat. Also, you can wheel it inside, so you aren't leaving an obvious "Here I am!" sign in the street.

Now... I'd still keep something a bit more burly at hand, but if I'm riding into town to scare up some groceries... and the place isn't heavily occupied, I'd consider slipping in quietly under pedal power.
 
The DPV or FAV look like tons of fun. A sand rail with gadgets. The LSV is similar and would be fun as well. Not something you would want to be in around IEDs or mines, or even in a firefight, but for having fun on a heavily armed vehicle they are hard to beat.

One thing often overlooked on armored vehicles is that they are often more dangerous to crash. There is several reasons. For one the same reason that special "glass" will stop a bullet it is going to be like hitting a brick wall if your head smacks into it. Fatal injuries are more likely in a crash in such a vehicle. Also many airbags (not all) and similar things must be forgone otherwise they would deploy in combat, disrupting the ability to manuever or escape, or to return fire. An airbag in your face during an ambush or firefight is more likely to get you killed than not having one.
Yet not having them driving down the road with windows that you can crush your skull on is more likely to get you killed in a freeway speed accident.

So the features of each are better suited to certain roles.


Oh one of my favorites has got to be the motorcycle that is a recoiless rifle!

My SHTF vehicle is a Honda Ruckus scooter. Sips gas, rugged and reliable, and I can get anywhere in an emergency by using bike trails or railroad tracks!
 
That EM50 rawks. Great for pickin' up chicks in Italy, too!

We have a Yamaha scooter, which is a lot of fun, and serves as a light grocery-getter in a low-threat environment. It's a lot quieter than the average motorcycle, too.
