I have Miculek grips on a 6" M17 and a M629 Mountain Gun. I love them for the round cross section and lack of finger grooves - my hands are long, but slim and the grooves often force too low a grip.

I'm looking for similar profile wood grips for a square butt K frame that aren't as long. I'm not interested in something as short as a boot grip. The Ahrends Square Butt Smooth looks like a candidate; the Retro Target is even more appealing as it has no hint of flaring toward the bottom of the grip. The Retro looks like what's been described to me as a "Roper" grip.

I am left handed, so anything with a palm swell for a right handed shooter is not of interest.

I would appreciate recommendations. Thanks.

My S&W 686 came with Hogue monogrips and when I bought my S&W mdl 64, I immediately put Hogue monogrips on it as well. They may not look as perty as fancy wood, but for function, they are an excellent choice.

Sparkyguy,

I understand you like your Hogue Monogrips. I've had them too, both on an K and N frames.

I am looking for suggestions in response to my post, however. I thought I said I was looking for a round cross section, no finger groves, no flare at the bottom, and shorter than the Miculek grip. Though the Monogrip is kinda round at the top, it has finger grooves, flares at the bottom and is both larger in cross section and longer than the Miculek.
