This is truly a bad idea. If you want an XD, then buy one. This is so wrong I can't begin to list the reasons without getting a headache. For me it's just a big no. I could attach a weed whacker to my pistol also, but I don't plan on doing it.
There are several company's that make a rail adapter that looks and works as well as factory equipment. Ask your gunsmith. Or try one of the many CT and lasermax units that work without a rail.

Got mine about a week ago.
Well researched.
Well made.
Fits perfect.
Handles fine.
Inexpensive.
Right interesting.

For about what a inexpensive set of 1911 grips cost the 1911 can be equipped with a rail.

Personally I'm a big fan of lasers and laser/lights on defense guns.

For years my 1911 pistols have mostly been taking up safe space while the guns with lasers and laser/lights mounted on the rails do the work.

Now the 1911 can get out of the safe and be useful.

If I get tired of it, removing it would take about three minutes.

Not everyone can afford to just buy another gun. If I had one 1911 and needed a rail, I'd rather use this and not get into the 1911 cool kids club than spend another $800-$1500 on a new one.

No one said you couldn't sell your rail-less 1911. ;)

My Wife use to ask me when I bought something that seemed a little too expensive,

"Are you buying that because you need it, or just to impress the other kids at the range". :D

Like putting a big wing and fart can exhaust on a Civic if you ask me, LOL! To each his own I guess.

I don't like how narrow 1911s are, so this big, blocky thing might actually be a pro for me.

Then again I don't go for manual safeties so I guess this isn't for me anyway.

Selling guns is silly.

Lol, doesn't matter how old you get, having the newest action figure just feels good. It's a primal thing in all of us, I believe.

Does that feel a lot more thick in your hands compared to standard 1911 grips?

A little thicker yes but not as thick as a normal double stack 9mm pistol.

I expected the gun to be uncomfortable but it's not bad at all. Possibly I have a better grip on it than the normal 1911 grip.

Shooting it is much like shooting the 1911 with thick grip panels.

Crimson Trace makes laser grips for the 1911 that work very well in low light.

But when it gets like this a gun mounted light/laser is called for (backyard range).

Interesting idea
Seems like one of the more stable and secure ways to add a rail
The others look kind of flimsy and weak

Can you show us the bottom view of that mounted on your 1911 compared to the bottom view of a 1911 with standard grip panels?

Good idea.

Because of the angle of the shot between the two grips the exact size is hard to see.
I measured the thickness at the center of both grips and to my surprise they are both 1 1/4 inch thick.

Where as the Remington grip panels are rounded and thin towards the front and back of the grip, the RT grip sides are mostly flat and not rounded until about a 1/4 inch before the front and back of the grip.

If it wasn't for the rough texture (which I'm not crazy about) of the RT grip, I think, eyes closed, I wouldn't feel a lot of difference between the two as I point or shot them.

You can have a rails installed on you 1911 if it doesn't come with one, without turning it into whatever that is. And do it for very little money

And than can you remove that rail in about three minutes thereby restoring the gun to the exact condition it was before the rail was installed?

Then can you transfer the previously installed rail to another 1911, in about three minutes, without modifying that gun in any way?

And by "very little money' you mean less than a total of $50? Right?

Looks like very nice product. If I ever pick up South American Modelo 1927 that is first thing I'm going to buy for it.

I wonder If I can get one of the custom grip makers out there to do me a pair in Stag, MOP, or Ivory ;)

Looks like a XDm 1911. I like it! I can see the utility there, but don't particularly have a use. It's a nice option to have on the market. I wonder if they'll make any other models. I know a guy with a Stoegar Cougar that could benefit from such a system. He doesn't practice enough, and I really doubt his skill in a HD situation. A laser would help him train and practice, and be good for HD in a pinch.

When the subject came up on Glock Talk, in December, the owner/representative of Recover Tactical entered the thread and answered questions.

One thing I asked him was if the grip was going to be made for other guns, such as the Beretta 92?

He said they had plans to expand and the Beretta 92 might be the next gun.

I have several 92's. I wouldn't mind being able to mount a laser or laser/light on one.

I like the idea of being able to quickly return the gun to it's original condition.
You have gunsmith work done on your gun and you are stuck with, for better or worse.
