Groupon suspending all gun deals

As a company, Groupon is in serious trouble. For some time they haven't been making money, their stock price has plunged, and they just fired the CEO. All things considered this is a bad move on their part which will make things worse.

But if this is what they want... :uhoh:

just got off the phone with them....told them why I'm no longer doing anything with them and (childishly) that i hope their company follows their stock to the seafloor. i also told her why: that if you bar and discriminate against one group than you can do it to others and i do not do business with the likes of those who act such.

I had an interesting couple of emails with a groupon dude.

His first response was clearly blind, as he believed I had contacted with a pat on the back regarding their A2 stance. His second reply was along the lines of "we just want to make the most people happy", and "go with what is popular". Wowza. Have not used groupon since. I hear they are in some financial trouble. Hmm.

I hear they are in some financial trouble. Hmm.

According to some Wall Street insiders, that is a major understatement...

This why I think doing what they are at this time is absolutely stupid.

But nowhere is it written that they aren't.... :uhoh:

Many of these coupon sites are a real rip off for the establishment that gets conned into trying them.

I got talked into restaurants.com

It turned out they sold a $25 off coupon for $10, (the coupon site gets the $10) with the stipulation that the customer must at least spend $10.
So I end up giving away $25 of food and earn what little profit margin there is on the other $10 worth of sales, all in the name of attracting business.
No one needs that kind of business.

These kinds of sites are smart not to encourage firearm use.:D

I bet the gun places are happy to get rid of them with the uptick in business that they already are getting. Groupon is okay (not great, just okay) for the business that would not otherwise be getting customers. Then Groupon takes somewhere around half of the profits. Groupon is stock is way down now too.

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the follow-up email. At this time, enough customers and merchants have voiced their opinions that we believe a hiatus is warranted.

We have not made a final determination regarding this category -- we are simply taking a break and may reevaluate in the future.

We genuinely appreciate your opinion and the feedback you've given us. I'll be sure to share your comments with the appropriate people.

Regards,

Groupon Customer Support

No purchases over the last 1.5 months from our household... used to be a regular customer. Such a shame...
