I thought the ground squirrels, and marmots were pests at our range.

I'd leave. Waiting for him to post and check targets would get old.

    Look! Free holster material! :neener:

I could see me asking the guy next to me: "Hey man, I'm going to go change targets. Will you cover me and I'll cover you after I get back?"

A turkey wandered out at the range on Fri. The thing that really puzzles me was watching a carpenter bee that buzzed around, in front of the muzzle as a guy blasted a .44 mag. Nice range you got in what must be a good State.

Remember to aim around three inches high when using a scope at close range.
Used to go to the Chabot golf (and gun) ranges years ago. The deer would graze around fifty yards downrange at the driving range.. it was a bit of a gully. Darned if some of those deer didn't get some "hardballs" upside the head.

three free turkeys played on our 100 yard berm for 20 minutes yesterday.

no cease fire but house rules are not to engage the wildlife. :scrutiny:
i mean....we have turkey shoots twice a year but than we can't shoot them...

And I thought low flying geese where we shoot trap were a bit of a problem!

We have hogs on our range all the time.

They are kinda feed ( old moldy flour tortillas) to keep the sows around and the new piglets seem to be unconcerned within a few days of running with the herd.

The sow herd leader, which is new every couple of years, has got to be hard of hearing for she does not even flinch when a round goes by.

No one shoots them because the owner sells them live or puts a few in the deep freeze.

Have seen the herd up to 30 with piglets and down to 2 sows these last few years. The two sows alone can get the herd going again in a very short period of time using the services of the local wild Boars.

Pigs are smart and you have to be ready to provide them with a direction change with a well placed kick or smack on the snout when the tortillas are brought out..... but gaters seem to be a different breed, for sure.......We had one on a golf course that decided he liked family pets...he is probably someones wall decoration now for he disappeared after some of the women started complaining about their precious disappearing?

A few weeks back 3 deer wandered on the pistol range I was at, they just mosied along the 50 yard line and onto the Action range.
Groundhogs and coyotes are on the rifle range on a regular basis.
Years back one of the benchrest shooters swatted a fly off his target at 100 yards, you could see the smear on the paper. Half a dozen of us signed the target as witnesses.

Can you shoot in self defense? Is there a season on them or can you take one and get your boots?
