Gun buy-up must continue!

I'm not talking about the "assault weapon" buying, which is raising the prices of a lot of weapons. What we need to do is to raise gun sales to an all time high as a protest to any future bans. This is one of the only effective ways we can get a message across to the white house that we are not going to support a weapon ban. When you do the paperwork it gets run as a "long gun" or a "handgun". So go out and buy a $50 lorcin, or a $70 M44. It doesn't have to be expensive, black or rare, so long as it results in an instant background check. Gun sales are up 49% from last year, according to CNN, so let's see if we can't make it 100%.

Guns make great gifts, and christmas is around the corner. Give a gun to someone in your family that doesn't have one. Teach a new shooter. Prove to the administration that the gun culture is very much alive in this country. So let our voices be heard. Buying guns will get a message across to the white house that emails never could, and it will help the economy.

You don't have to buy them just because you're panicing. You can buy them to help preserve an American right and to help the profits of the American gun industry. Let's make the gun sales in this country the strongest they've ever been.

And of course, please do what you can to donate to the NRA.

I agree .....ima buy as many AR lower recievers that I can.....I don't care if its even the "crappy" ones! Once I buy em....they are NOT getting them back!

After coming to this conclusion this afternoon, I went to my local gun store. The parking lot was full and the store was packed. I didn't really have any money, so I asked a lady behind the counter if there was anything in the store that was about $20-30 that would require a background check. I explained that I didn't care if it was just a piece of rusty metal with a serial number, so long as it was counted by the government as one more gun sold. She looked in the back and found a 12 guage pump shotgun (savage) that was missing some parts. She said that she could let me have it for $30, but it would be "as is" and was not operational. I told her that it was perfect, and she started running my paperwork. While she was running the check, I examined the shotgun. I noticed that it was dusty, but not rusty, and the same model as an old shotgun I had at home that was also missing some parts and was not functional. However, the shotgun I was buying was only missing the extractor, fore-end, and tube. The shotgun I had at home had all three! I got it home and with a little sweat and time I now have a fully fuctional shotgun! It's actually not that bad, and it only cost me $30! I'm really happy I made that decision, because now I have a great home defense gun that will be a lot safer for my neighbors than my AK or my 9mm. Plus I've been wanting to get a pump shotgun for a while. To make it even better, I called the shop I bought my AR stripped receiver from and my "hold" ended early! What a great day.

Y'know, that's an innovative idea. Some might argue that the money spent might be better sent to the RKBA organization of your choice, BUT if anyone is already thinking about a firearms purchase of any sort they should be aware that the timing of that planned purchase could help send a message.

Got a beater to fix? Time that purchase of the parts gun so that it benefits more than just the individual. Want to give an inexpensive shooter for a present, keep an eye on the timing so that it helps extend the tone. Planning on an entry level hunting rifle for someone, don't forget that they're not flying off the shelves and you can wait until the crowds buying ARs aren't quite as bad at the gun shop and make the timing of the purchase a comment to Washington.

Nice idea, and deserves a big thumbs up.

Stock up on .22's, they are cheap, ammo is cheap, and they are super fun to shoot.

Right now a Mossberg Plinkster retails for about $99 where I live, so go buy one for all your nieces, nephews, sons, daughters, grandkids and get the next generation of shooters started. Or buy one for yourself. Or buy some other variant of .22.

Last night national news, "Firearms sales are 15% over normal.
This AM local news (radio) Baker, Orgeon... One AR 15 left in stock
without a date for backorder of his stock. Normal prices of $800 to
$900 per rifle, reportedly are selling to just under $1400.
Local magazine dealer OUT No expected backorder date.
At a newly opened Sportman's Warehouse, stock of centerfire pistol
and rifle, dwindles. Loading componets out in a few areas, costs
continue to rise.
Sounds like there is an interest and demand, creating shortages. Gas
is down, firearms related stuff, and food continues to go upward

The data for the first week of November is going to blow them away, as I've been in three stores this last week and there was nothing but standing room in all three! However, I doubt the mainstream media will report the REALLY sensational numbers for this month!

That's only going to fall on deaf ears. The increase in gun sales is what the news will report and it is what the politicians will see. When you have this many Americans buying guns, it's hard to support a gun ban and get re-elected. Buying more guns is what will really send a message to Washington. Emails will go straight to the junk filter.

I agree. Keep it up. The day after the election I went and bought a Mossberg 930 SPX and a Ruger 10/22, just on principle as my way to send a message. Something tells me I might need to send some more messages sometime soon.

Of course, I shouldn't forget to mention that after making my political statement, I proceeded to the nearest gun buy-back program and traded them anonymously for two $25 gift cards to Food Lion, which is exactly what I've done with all my other guns. I just couldn't stand the idea of having those nasty things around my house. It's for the children...

The idea of buying junkers that aren't any good for salvage and then trading them in for a profit at gun buy backs is pretty innovative also. Sort of getting paid to help the statistics.

Could these "junker" guns be donated to some "gun rescue" organization "rehabilitated" (by volunteers?) and then sold back out into the community as low cost or no cost self defense or even collectible weapons?

This past weekend, I attended the Richmond Va gun show. It was the first show since election. It was JAMMED. Normally the longest line there has been 30 people long, about a 10 min wait for tickets. It was over 200 yards long and 1 hr to get a ticket. Massive turnout.

+1! I refurbished a .22 for my dad. When he gave it to me it was dusty and rusty and the bolt was really sticky. It was a tube-fed semi-auto .22, and it didn't seem too impressive. Well I took the whole thing apart, cleaned it all up, got rid of the rust, used a gunblue-pen to touch up areas of wear, and did a few other things. When I was done with it, I took it to the range and it shot beautifully with no problems what-so-ever. Now he has a working .22lr that even looks pretty nice!

Another thing that is fun to refinish (although very time consuming) are those old Russian rifles, like the M44s, M38s, etc. Any of the Mosins, or other countries' guns of the era. They're cheap, and even if you aren't going to use them, it's fun to take a cosmoline soaked piece of junk and restore it to it's origional glory. And for the price, it's not a bad gun!

Looking for a used 22lr semi auto pistol just for the reason mentioned by the OP.

This election finally got me off my rearend and got me into shooting again. Just purchased that Smith and Wesson 620 revolver that I have been eyeing for a while and renewed my long expired membership to the NRA. The NRA isn't perfect, but then again, neither am I.

Also just got another 5 pistol permits from the local Sheriff's department, cause that is the most I can get at a time here in Wake County in NC. Will I buy that many? Probably not, but I want that choice.

Both my wife and I are enrolled in a CCW course, just because we can. Most likely we will never carry (let's not get into that discussion here), but I want that choice.

Feel better already - now, what to do about that North Carolina law that bans the transport of guns/ammo during a declared state of emergency...

i like this idea. but the nra needs 10 million members and we will have an enormous power house in DC. although like most politicians, i think no matter the numbers no matter the amount of money flying into it, or no matter how many of the people they represent they will still vote for more whatever they want not what the people they represent want. im not a big fan of any politicians, but maybe thats the libertarian in me?

Here's an idea... Buy a gun that you don't particularly want, but is cheap. Then sell it on Gunbroker or Guns America. That way your aren't out any money and the same gun gets run twice!

If you have guns that you don't want, sell them! Make sure to do it on consignment through a gun store or via Gunbroker (etc) so that a NICS check is done and it adds to the count of guns sold. Anything you can do to boost gun sales, while at the same time providing arms to those that would like to become armed, is honorable and will help this country to send a strong message to Washington!

I doubt that adding to the number of weapons purchased statistics is going to be as good for our cause as putting the effort and/or $ into writing your representatives or some other direct activist action. It's a great excuse to go out and buy a gun though.

And mods, I'm under the impression that questioning the validity of the OP's concept is allowed and not just "sounding off". Please correct me if I'm mistaken.
