Here's a link to an announcement for a lecture presentation on "gun violence" by a U of Chicago professor, scheduled for 19 October in St. Louis. Those in the area, and interested in representing gun RIGHTS, might wish to attend to learn how Heller, and other decisions, are viewed, and what actions toward reducing their impact may be contemplated. I'm too far away to attend....but would like someone to report on the lecture if possible.....

Hi I did a quick search for the fellow giving the talk, Jens Ludwig, and came up with a book on Google Books. Check out the summary:

Sounds like the guy's work is rather academic. Unfortunately, he may be an academic who came to a conclusion before he did the research. Hard to tell from the book's summary.

Regards.

Folks have to get out a bit more: Jens Ludwig
Evaluating Gun Policy (Brookings Institution Press 2003) (edited with Philip J. Cook).

Gun Violence: The Real Costs (Oxford University Press 2000) (with Philip J. Cook).

Guns in America: Results of a Comprehensive Survey on Private Firearms Ownership and Use (Police Foundation 1997) (abridged version published as a Research In Brief, National Institute of Justice, 1997, NCJ 165476) (with Philip J. Cook).

With "Guns in America", Cook and Ludwig did a parallel study to Kleck, got much the same result, and tried to wish it away.
