What gun do you have that just don’t work no matter what you do, where you send it to, or how much $$$ you throw at it.

Me, STI ViP .40, the older model, bought gen 2 120mm mags for it, but 1 mag like longer loading, the other mag like shorter loading. I just bought 3 mags (gen 1) from Midwest Gun Works, and these mag won’t even chamber. What a bad buy!

I do like STi, I have the DVC 9mm and it runs like a Top!!! zero issues except not having enough time to go shooting.

Don't have any that don't work properly. I've had to do some troubleshooting to get some where I could rely on them, but if I can't do that, they get sold with full disclosure. Last of those was a Charter Arms Pitbull in .40 S&W.

I bought this STi used from a LGS, I have sent it to STi, had the extractor replace and tune, tried gen 2 mags. Nothing will make it reliable. I’m so determined! $$$ lol

I wish you well. I spent a lot of time and a little money to get a Savage 24 E-DL .22 Mag/20 gauge working properly; light strikes on the shotgun barrel. Got it figured and enjoyed that gun for many years. I paid a good price for it, I think because the seller couldn't get it working right; he didn't disclose the problem, just asked a reasonable price. Once I fixed it, it was worth a lot more ... especially to me! I understand the satisfaction that comes from figuring things out.

I’m not in a rush! been trying to get it to work for 5 years now. Including yesterday, when factory STi mags from Midwest Gun came in was a complete FAIL! All 3 of them!!!

I’ve only broken one firearm. My Desert Eagle. One day while shooting it failed to return to battery. I examined it, closed it and fired again. This time it remained further open and I saw why. The gas piston had its tail pin sheared off. Bought two and a replacement spring set from Magnum Research. Fixed.
This was after replacing the barrel it came with. It was damaged along one whole land and was stripping copper off the bullet.
I need some magazine bases as well. The recoil smashes the spring retainer into the base plate. Eventually I’ll have to cut it off.
I’d like to have the bottom rail milled off too.
Maybe when I have the slide milled for a red dot.
If there is one made that can take it.

It’s only money!:D
(I will be taking this one with me when I go…)

Midwest Gun Works came thought with a Shipping label. They have free shipping this weekend over $100. So, I’ll swap the 127mm mags for the 120mm mags and see what don’t work and how much more $$$ I need to throw at the Springs and followers!!!! YEAAAAAA

Timely thread...

Long story short, I bought a S&W pre-model 17 that turned out to have a bent rod.
Straightened it as best I could.

Ordered a rod from Numrich; wrong variety and totally my fault.
Money wasted.

Ordered another rod from Jack First. Right variety but too long.
Much more expensive than Numrich rod.
Money wasted... ?

Ordered a leather headed hammer to try to further straighten original rod.
Didn't really work out - but at least I got the hammer out of it.

Finally tried to slowly and carefully shorten Jack First rod. Success!
Not 100% fixed, but much better.

So a few $ thrown at this project, but at least a happy ending.
The gun actually shot okay with the bent rod; extraction was poor.
It was probably worth what I paid for it.
Bent rod was priced in.
I thought the good deal was due to another issue entirely.

Story moral - buyer beware.
Impulse buys don't always work out.
At least not at first. Sometimes not ever.

nearly all my guns in the last 5 years have been gone impulsive buys. I just don’t buy used guns anymore. Not saying new is better. Example, I bought a new 10mm 1873 SAA clone. I drop the gun and it looks like I broke the lock… good thing 1873 parts are easy to find. that venture cost me $150, and I had to buy screw driver’s made for those old screw design. Yes, I could have sent it back to The Uberti, but I would probably still be waiting

Yup. Got a Model 640 and I continue to try to refine to shoot better. To no avail, it seems. From initially prettying-up with Altamonts, I've hand-polished internals (including the sear), replaced all the springs, replaced the front sight (lower height/tritium)... it's my version of a boat at this point: I keep throwing money at it... but don't want to get rid of it. Someday, I'll learn...

Someday, but definitely not today! I just polish my extractor of my “Boat Gun… lol” and lightly on the face. that actually helped with the feeding in the long load .40. wow! won’t know till I get it to the range.

tonight I’ll strip it completely and give it a nice clean and lube.
