Hollywood's and the media's insidious indoctrination about many guns has been quite successful regarding distortions, especially with military-styled rifles. It has even brain-washed conservative people who hunt or sometimes enjoyed plinking in the past; years ago even I used to wonder, "well-what civilian needs an AK-47 (before I decided to read about the issues)?"

How often have any publicized stores of both ammo and guns been connected to cults or social misfits?
Count me as a social misfit: The much-dreaded Savage .22, Mini 30, SKS, MN 44s, Lee Enfield ("Jungle Carbine") and a bit of ammo: maybe four years' worth.

I'm a pastor. Part of my job is to visit shut-ins - members of the church who, for various reasons, cannot come to church. One family (grandpa [the shut-in], grandma, daughter, granddaughter and her hubby) are all gun enthusiasts. We always swap gun stories. Last week, in fact, he brought out his .303 British and told me some of its' war stories. I have a standing invitation there than if I get a new toy, I am to bring it along the next visit for show-n-tell. The granddaughter called me last week and I taught her and her mom (the daughter) how to shoot this week. The GD went from couldn't hit the broad side of a barn to a very competent shot with my M&P, 1911, Buckmark, and even GP100 (moderate .357 loads).

Those two ladies were #3 and 4 from church that I have taught to shoot. A couple folks at churchh know I have applied for my Texas CHL and they get quite a jolly out of calling me "the pistol packin' preacher."

DAVIDDIVAD - Considering NAK's Dr. was going to be cutting his neck open & his Therapist would be helping him post-op (& she "did" ask permission be4 grabbing), I don't think it was weird @ all. Actually, I thought NAK's story was the coolest post in this thread!

I'm attorney. On the wall behind me, I have a lifetime NRA certificate next to my bar certificate and my law school diploma. In the waiting room, I have NRA magazines and other magazines. I'm not a republican. My political affiliation does not dictate my understanding of the 2nd Amendment, and vice versa.

Another 2A family doc here. I've been at this for 40 years and talk guns and shooting to anyone who'll listen - patients, staff, drug reps, building maintenance guys, mailman, etc. Anybody not interested can take their snotty nose elsewhere - hasn't happened yet.

University professor and research scientist here. Happy to report that some of my colleagues are also 2A supporters. Carry almost all of the time, except when on campus. Then I carry a 20 oz can of bear pepper spray.

Allow me to retort, "suicide hunter"

She may have said words, but the lady certainly didn't ask.
She grabbed his gun before he could respond.

    It's a very weird story.

Well I have had one or two dentists and a Physician who had hunting magazines in the waiting room.

My mom is a teacher, most of her long time male co-workers are hunters and pro-gun. Heck one of them helped deal with some things in the family and ended up taking my g-pa's reloading equipment (before I got interested in reloading.) Oh well he beat me too it.

My dad on the other hand... Law enforcement doesn't really count because I think just about everyone he knows carries. Except here in CA... they get the few anti-gun cops and put them in ad's demonizing guns. Just so people will believe firearms are bad. Same with firefighters. Propaganda is all it is.

One thing that gets me is the waiting room magazines. There is nothing in that pile anywhere that deals with cars, guns or anything worth reading.

All I see is parenting magazines, pasty flower shows, nice and nuetral material that is non-controversial and sleep inducing. Come to think of it, the entire waiting room is a sleepy-time trap painted with specific colors intended to relax people. Now where did I leave that tin foil?

Then again the doctors I deal with are extremely.... powerful personalities.

There is no question that some of my doctors understand my position on guns as a pursuit and other things I like to do in life. And it does not bother them at all.

What really matters is that I am there, on thier time on my dime and what can they do for me today? What is the boo boo that they can fix?

So in general I dont visit doctors unless it is a boo boo I cannot fix here at home.

I recently found out that my dentist of 15 years is a champion handgunner, and had a pistol range built in the basement of his offices.

That tears it.... No more fluoride for you! :D

We've got one of the guys telling his wife that he's going to a strip club instead of the range, but this is a LOT better....

If this site is anything like njgunforums.com , I can tell you that there are many many white collar prof. that own firearms.

I am in the financial services industry, and I can tell you a good 30% of my coworkers owned firearms, and at least 50% of them shot in the past or support it.

NJGF has many it professionals, doctors, finance guys, and many many many business owners. Quite a few in the pharma industry as well, chemists, engineers.
