SWAT was one of only about three periodicals I enjoyed. Brent Wheat on cop stuff, Ruben Beaulieu (sp?) on survival, Denny Hansen, a few others and guest writers I'd actually met; the magazine had a good variety of articles, not just gun stuff.

Possibly the only Larry Flynt magazine which wouldn't get you in trouble with the wife/girlfriend/mom.

I own every monthly publication of Guns & Ammo from 1974 thru 1989
I own every monthly publication of Shooting Times from 1979 thru 1984 and then hit and miss from 1985 thru 1994.
I believe this time period was the best of the best we could have for gun writers.
I have 20 Special Edition magazines they put out as well.
Wouldn't give a plug nickel for gun magazines written today. And I certainly wouldn't part with the ones I own.

Have not read a gun magizane in years. They are not what they once were.

Not much. I get 'American Rifleman' as an NRA member, so I look through it and ignore the advertisements and the articles that are thinly disguised advertisements. I haven't bought a gun magazine (the reading sort) for some years now. As noted prior, not all that good.
It seems magazines cost a lot to publish, so all the space goes to entities with money to spend. The twisted American dream.
