Gun porn

The nipples need to be changed unless I find smaller caps that fit better. Also...I need to polish the cylinder locking lug.

If those are cap fragments, you definitely need to visit Track Of The Wolf for replacement nipples. Life is too short for chain fires. Fairly cheap fix.

To reiterate: what is the wax for?

Well Pards...I think I'm plumb outta blackpowder firearms to create gun porn. Now, if we're talkin' AK-47s, AR-15, M1 Garands, etc. we'd be back in business. I guess this means I need to buy some more percussion revolvers! :D Anyhow, I look forward to seeing your gun porn since I'm tapped out.

I'm ready and happy to view any AK and AR boomsticks. Gun porn is gun porn!

Caps are no problem. I use lead most of the time but I do mess around with wax from time to time. The quick draw guys fire them with modified cases and 209 primers.

dickyd,

Quack! Quack, quack, quack........er, I mean......Do you ever shoot that Classic Arms Duckfoot pistol and what sort of spread at what range does it give? Can one actually hit anything with the center barrel, and if so, where do the other balls go?

Nice collection of stuff!

Thanks for posting.

Michigander Micheal,

I think I see the problem.... this being a BP area of THR folks assumed that your post showing the wax "bullet" indicated you shot such bullets in a front stuffing BP percussion revolver and they wondered how you were doing it.

I used wax bullets in modern cartridge guns at very close range to learn to present and fire from new holsters or from a new concealed position. Holes in a target at three meters or less do not lie to you about your ability to get off a first shot. Primer only powered Wax bullets do not have near the danger zone or back stop requirements of the lightest loaded gunpowder and lead loads. I have even used them for in house HD drills with family members and former room mates having made portable back stops.......practicing in the environment to be defended in a truly gradable way can give folks a good bit of confidence.

I have also made use of the Speer plastic primer powered ammo and some rubber primer powered bullets.

Not being able to figure out a good way to make and load wax bullets into a Remington NMA or Colt.44 fantasy 1851 I did try the rubber bullets and just primers and had VERY poor results.

I think we were all hoping you had found a way to make our NMAs and such "basement and front hall shootable".

I've been shooting these wax loads with various powder charges and have had good results at close range. I'm surprised that more people aren't shooting them. You have to brush out the barrel here and there but it does work ok.

At about 35 feet into the snow the center barrel hits Center! The other 2 hit about 6 feet to either side. I had 10 grains of 3 F in each barrel, under a .350 ball. It's a hoot to shoot!

A conversion kit to 45 colt and brass cases would allow you to shoot wax bullets - I think.
