inexpensive large gun safe

Go to Lowes or Home Depot. Ask to look at jobs boxes.
These are metal boxes that construction worker use on construction sites. About 5 to 6 years a go I got a new display model (with a dent on the side) at home depot for about $175.00. It is 4 feet wide, 2 feet deep, and 2 feet tall. takes two padlocks that a bolt cutter can not get to. I have it filled with guns and cases of ammo. It would take a fork life to move it.
It sits in my living room with a table cover over it. No one who visits has ever even noticed it.

I was lucky, I lived not to far from a distributor in Fort Worth TX, and was able to get a good deal on a full sized 4hr fire rated gun safe 10 or so years ago. Still have it, and it was the best money I EVER spent on gun storage. A pain to move, but a great investment. With 3 rifles and several pistols I'd say that you're ready to be ponying up the money for a real safe.

Having said that I have used job boxes over the years for various things (admittedly not guns though), and it's not a bad suggestion if you need to secure stuff while saving for a safe. Only thing I'd add to that would be that when you're buying locks buy the keyed alike or self settable combination locks. That way you don't have to carry multiple keys or remember multiple combos for the same unit.
