Hey guys. I just got my FFL in the mail yesterday. I'd like to put together a web page but of course I don't have a clue where to start. Does anyone on here have experience they would share for the normal going THR advice rate or just a little more?

It depends on what you are looking to do.

Do you want a basic page with your contact info and some simple non-changing details or do you want something more dynamic with inventory listings and other stuff.

You may want to consider doing something through the galleryofguns.com site:

Probably, the best thing for you to do is to look around and find another dealer site that is close to what you would like to do.

Just remember, web design largely relates to the "look" of the site. If you want databases and customer relation tools then you may want to look for someone that is a web developer with database experience.

Hope this helps,

PB

There are open source (FREE) shopping carts
and FREE basic template designs available all over the web.

I've used FREE versions of Zen Cart and OSCmax in the past for my website.
I went back to html and simple cart buttons as the above types rely on a data base and
when the data base went down, I decide to go BACK to the KISS method.

This is assuming you want customers to have the ability to purchased from you online.
If your just looking for more of an informational page, that is a snap to do as well.
With all, you would need a domain name and a place to host your pages.

I use Yahoo small Biz services and Card Services Intl. is my cc processor.

Been selling online full time, since 1999.

Stay away from free stuff unless you have a real web programmer to set it up. I have had to remove or revise a number of client web sites using free crap off the internet that caused their sites to be compromised.

Get yourself a web designer/programmer that can write code to protect your web site from being used to spam or infect innocent browsers. Sure you'll spend some money but it's better than having your domain name and or the IP blacklisted.

markfh has a point there.

Be careful of some of the FREE stuff as there is so much code embedded,
that you really don't know what the heck is going on.
(In some instances)...

For me that was not too much of a problem seeing as
I've been building websites for almost a decade now
and have hacked the heck out of some of these templates/programs to
weed out the BS.

How much are you looking to spend?

If you have a server and domain already, I'd be willing to help you make a basic starter site till you could get something better that you like. I'm perfectly fine doing it for free. It won't be fancy, and it won't be anything special.
