Anyone going to the gun show at the Big E Fair Grounds in Mass March 13tg & 14th? Has anyone been before? Is so how was it? Tim

I go everytime it pops up. There is nothing particularly special about the show in of itself. I would say that you probably aren't going to find any good deal pricewise but it is good to see that much gun/knife related stuff in one place. It really give you a chance to actually hold stuff that you might have to drive to several different stores or only order over the internet.

I always walk away having bought something wether a $20 knife or several hundred on various items.
I plan on looking at and probably purchasing either an EO tech or an Aimpoint this time around. Like I said I can actually hold and see these two items before I purchase. That is why I keep going to these shows since my only other choice would be to buy them over the internet in order to not get raped on price and then find out if I like them or not.

Thanks Smiley. I'm mostly looking for mags & ammo. If the prices are decent I get some. My son & his friend wanted to go so I figure it is agood bonding day if not anything else.

I go to just about every show there except when I have to work that weekend. Luckily we worked this past weekend.

The show is fairly good-sized but good buys are getting fewer and fewer. However I've found a couple of good deals there over the years. A nice Mossberg 44US(a) for $60 (transfer cost me an additional $20), a good Ruger Super Single Six with both cylinders for just over $200.

Check the ammo tent EARLY as they sometimes tend to sell out of the good stuff.

Oh, check the Springfield Republican if you can, they usually have a dollar-off coupon for tickets. And, the Big E charges $3 to park.

I don't know where you are located but the Ware Gun shop in Ware, MA is having a special sale on Saturday and as a guest they are having Roy Jinks from S&W signing his book. I plan on going there early Saturday.

I'll have my black Molon Labe hat on, if you see it, say hi!

I might make the cruise out there. Dinner and beers at Mardi Gras baby!

Ware is about 30 (?) miles east-northeast of Springfield. If you keep going east on the Massachusetts Turnpike you would take the Palmer exit (8) about 20 miles past Springfield, then take Massachusetts route 32 north to Ware, about 10-15 miles. Unfortunately I can;t give you anything more

And I am coming up blank trying to find an ad about this for a phone number or address. Unfortunately I will be going a back route which is quicker from where I live.

Just found this, maybe it will help:

Big E Gunshow Report (Abbreviated)

Well, I made it to the show on Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. The show was CROWDED! Recent shows have been of moderate attendance but this one had more people than I have seen in a long time. This impression was confirmed by another show-goer. Relatively good weather, income tax return time, increased interest in firearms? Not sure what the reason was.

The bad news was that with my two kids in tow, it was difficult to really see much and concentrate on what was there. Could not see enough to guess how prices were, but did see an awful lot of guns for sale. Para-Ordnance is marketing a few models heavily in Massachusetts to see if the market warrants MA-compliance for everything else.

The ammo tent was doing good, lot's of different calibers, best deal I saw was a 50-round sleeve of Federal Classic (Tactical) slugs for $19.95. From what I overheard he was beginning to run out of some stuff though - not sure if it was high demand or low stock.

Overall it was good to see big crowds here, maybe it says something positive about firearms ownership trends in the Commonwealth.
