I would like your response to this, should i be allowed to go to gun shows when i have to use a walker to get around? I'm thinking about not going any more. I have been knocked down because i could not get our of the way from a young man and have been cursed, I can still go to the range shooting and I also shoot trap I'm 74 years old, and broke my neck a few years ago.

Sorry about your bad experiences. It is not your fault, my generation was not typically raised with the proper respect they should have (of course it only takes 1 or 2 per hundred to give that impression). Lots of cane and wheelchair crowd at my local shows, and I try to make room to let them go by me.

Terribly sorry to hear about your negative experiences. I cannot account for the rudeness and lack of respect in some people, other than to say that they simply were not raised right. They also seem to lack the basic empathy to realize that if they are fortunate to live long enough, they will someday be in the same shoes as the person they're jostling.

I say any person that has breath and an interest in firearms has the right to be at a gun show. And every other person at a gun show has the responsibility to have the back of someone who was treated as poorly as you were.

Go to the gun show, walker and all.

I walk with a cane due to a neck fusion and plate, never had a problem. In fact people are quite polite, but for just that one jerk that might show up I take a burley young nephew or two.

idiots come in all ages dont let others keep you from doing what you enjoy

Sure, go. Just be aware of the block it could prevent and keep it minimal and if you go about with as much consideration for others as you should rightfully expect, anyone with a problem would have a problem anyway - the walker (and you) would just be an easy target.

As an example of the worst scenario I have seen, it would be where an assisted individual didn't care about interfering with others at the Costa Mesa show in California. There they have a couple that goes down the aisles in hover-round/rascal-whatevers in a weaving from side to side, running over peoples toes, parking side by side to talk and backing at near full speed totally mindless of other customers manner.

Just don't be that guy and what reasonable person wouldn't welcome you to the show?

Don't let it stop you from going, unless you just don't want to. You will find those type people everywhere, in everything we do. There is alway's going to be one out there so don't give in to them. If you enjoy going, by all mean's go and have fun and don't let the Idiot's ruin your day.

Of course you can go to a show, and anyone giving you grief over it can EABOD

You might consider making the walker more obvious, and maybe consider going early/later in the day when it isn't crowded ... to make it easier on you. Planning your route with some resting spots couldn't hurt either.

Seriously, if I spotted someone harassing a disabled fellow citizen, I'd stomp their feet or otherwise provide some feedback to them, that's NOT OK, even somewhere crowded like a gun show.

Mr. Cooper,

I say that you keep going. You have just as much right there as anyone else. If we lived closer together and you needed someone to carry you, I would be there in the blink of an eye. It would be a pretty good trek from Texas to you up there in Oregon.

Never give up....

As an individual with physical problems myself, my left side is is paralyzed and I need the use of a cane and a brace on my left ankle to walk anywhere, I feel for ya'. In my opinion, and I think a lot of folks will agree, the other folks are being and impolite to an individual such as yourself. Regardless of age or physical capacity, there should be no reason for you not to go to the gun shows.

I would be happy to walk with you at the show so we could both walk tall and proud. Don't let one apple spoil the bushel.

Is this post for real or are you making a joke about the "can I bring a baby to gun show" post?

makstar, my post is real, i broke my neck about 7 years ago and I'm 74 years old now. does this ans your question?
to all others that ans my post thank you i just wanted to see if i was in the wrong. i have decided not to go to the shows any more, not so much for rude people but also the high prices,
thanks to all.

Mr.Cooper I hope that when I'm 74 that I can still go to the shooting range. I think that it is important for you to continue to do what you enjoy. If you like going to the show, then keep going. My dad is 89 this April and He still goes shooting with me once a year. Let them curse, and don't let it bother you. I think its great that you still keep doing what you want. Take care.

As long as the walker, scooter, wheelchair folks realize I am not obligated to be inconvenienced by their presence at the show, I don't have a problem with them attending. They just need to be as mindful of me as I am of everyone else. Don't clog the aisles, don't run up on my heels, and if you want to chat someone up, don't get in the way of everyone.

Kudos BFD, You are hereby appointed an honorary nephew, with all the rights, priviliges, and free meals duly entitled. :)

Well I'm not disabled but my wife is. I say go to the gun show, but use a cane so you can give anyone who gives YOU a bad time a good rap on the shins with your cane.:neener:

Sorry, but I think you have every right to go to the show and enjoy it. Don't let a few people with no manners spoil it for you.

You should absolutely go! I would have a serious problem with someone who shoved ANYBODY over in such a malicious manner. Don't let some jerk keep you from what you enjoy.

Find a protege and take him with you. You would both benefit from the learning experience. As others have said, I would pick you up and take you if you were closer. This is about learning from each other.

If I saw someone knock a person in a walker down they would have gotten a talking to no matter where it happened after I was done helping the prone person back up. I've had harder times moving around loud mouths than folks in wheelchairs or using walkers at gun shows.

There are going to be rude and nonthinking folks no matter if you go to the gun show, movies, grocery store, or gas station. If I had to guess, I'd say the polite and thoughtful people at a gunshow outnumber the dinks 50 to 1. Keep going, that's life.

This world is full of no respcet for others. You would think gun lovers would at least respect other gun lovers.
