Gun truck

As to that Range Rover, if I wanted to be in a place that looked like that, I'd go rent the top-floor suite at the Hilton for a night.
People who consider the Hilton upscale aren't really the target market. :)

their research boys must have identified a significant demand for them to tool up a truck like this.
The "box" portion has been offered for a couple of years now. They didn't say, "Hey, let's make a gun compartment!", it was more of a "Hey, we can put a tool box in the side of bed!" The new part is the gun cradle, which doesn't represent much of an investment by the company. See the site for the 2010 Ram to see how they were marketing it: http://www.dodge.com/en/2010/ram_1500/storage/exterior/

Feature has been around for a few years and like a previous poster said they marketed it as a contractor utility feature. I think at the initial reveal they had a bag of golf clubs in there as well.

I figure some guy finally got his idea pushed through as yet another option the car company can throw in the vehicle to try and sell it. As far as I am concerned any truck is a "Gun Truck" if it fits my double hardcase.

Hilton has nice middle of the road rooms, however the Range Rover is aimed more at the Waldorf Astoria crowd.

How secure are those lockable "Ram boxes"? How flimsy is the lock?

Seen it. Good idea. Too bad it's a Dodge.

Grow up. I can only imagine some of your other posts.... Too bad it's a Remington/Savage/Kimber/Colt. I grew out of the adolecent Dodge/Chev/Ford baack when I was about 20.

I would love to have one but I believe that once it becomes well known as a gun storage compartment, the guns won't be safe anymore.
My Dodge has a complete gun drawer between the wheel wells that holds 13 scoped rifles and all of the ammo that I could possibly shoot in 4-6 days of prairie dogs shooting. I custom made the drawer 11 years ago.

P.S. My Ram 2500 has 190M miles of backcountry/snowplowing/trailer towing/tree stump pulling "experiance" and most of my repairs have consisted of tires, battery and normal maintenance.

I fail to see how this is any different that any other truck box or a trunk in this regard. As has been already stated, this option has already been around for awhile. Are people going to suddenly start opening them just in case someone bought the option to store guns?

I see a small problem of this on the legal side in some states like the one i live in this might not fit the discreption of a case and might fall more under like a glove box so there might be some legal problem with this item.

Yea may they will offer it in a real truck one day.....LIKE A FORD!!!!

Ford is to busy building good trucks to waste their design money on this nonsense.:p:D

Seriosuly though the problem with compartments like that is you kill bed space. NFW are you getting a 48in cut mower, ATV, or full sheet of plywood or rock in that bed. Also odvious locked compartments invite theft, thats why I don't have a toolbox in my trucks bed. I have no problem throwing the guns in the back to drive to the range, and if you need to leave the truck put them in the cab out or sight.
