Gun violence drops "dramtically" according to US DOJ

Gun violence is a load term coined to invoke an emotional response unfavorable to firearms. People are violent, not guns.

For me this is the crux of the issue. There is no such thing as "gun violence", nor hammer violence, pool violence, or rooftop violence. None of these objects have intent, nor are they capable of performing violence on their own. The human is the violent object, and I am getting very tired of anti (legal) gun politicians and the special interest groups blaming the inanimate objects, using emotional, non-factual arguments.

It points out that the old Assault Weapon Ban expired in 1994, so as soon a a ban expires crime drops. Kinda flies in the face of what the anti-gun crowd believes. You could also point out that from 1994-1998 is when many states changed their handgun laws to make it easier to get a carry permit. These years also correspond to the biggest drops in crime rates.

The problem is, this is part of the culture war and the culture war is not won with facts and figures. You can't control and dominate the masses with facts and figures, that's why you employ emotions, namely fear. It's not just the left, the fascists did it as well.

And thus, our 2nd Amendment rights hang by threads that we can't even comprehend except in retrospect. Cause and effect are never clear, and to have given two mutually exclusive facts (gun control passed/ gun violence dropped dramatically) to the media would have created a compelling narrative even if a lie.

Sadly, we have the OPPOSITE narrative (NO gun control passed, MILLIONS more guns, gun violence dropped dramatically) with no main stream media to push it.

The left never let facts detract from their ignorant "firearm armageddon" screams.
They are low information, unreasonable masses, incapable of independent thinking and analysis.

You can't reason with unreasonable people. That has been shown time and again. Truth has no impact when so many are "clinging" to lies repeated so many times, they believe them to be truths.

What happened to scholarly endeavor? What happened to intelligent, independent members of society, who think for themselves?

We're still here, but the impressionable, easily duped have been screaming lies.

We must scream truths louder than they scream lies, and more often. It's time.

I constantly debate with extreme anti gunners on local opinion blogs. They keep screaming "baby killer" and I keep jamming facts back at em. When the bills could not get out of the Senate all they could talk about was how criminal the NRA is and how brainwashed us slobbering freaks compensating for small manhood are. The largest problem in trying to "compromise" is the glaring ignorance of the issue on the "gun control" side of the fence. How can a senior legislator in a state, that holds all the cards on a restrictive upcoming vote, think that "magazine clips will be exhausted because they're made of bullets". Ignorance is the greatest problem, then "statistics" for sure.

Even our own government's most recent statistics don't support what Obama, Biden, Feinstein, Pellosi ect spew out of their pie holes.

NOBAMA is a Chicago politician of the worst kind. Biden and the other two aren't even worth my time. If you believe anything they spew out of their pie holes you should by some farm land in Southern Florida and put in a cash crop.

Nixon faced less when he resigned due to Watergate than what NOBAMA and his corrupt regime are facing today. There is your lesson in where this Country has gone in the last 35 years and where it is heading.

Sadly I've seen the very same phenomenon on gun boards where instant experts tell people who have been shooting their entire lives that they are uninformed idiots who wouldn't know a good gun from a yard rake. It's sickening to me that people who should know better often don't.

A couple comments. I find it the fault of the media and politicians like Feinstein, Biden, Obama, Schumer that people believe violent crime is up or increasing. Is this fair reporting or a fair representation of the facts? As Biden said, I want to base gun control legislation on facts. NY, CT, and MD did not listen to the facts.

From the LA Times article;

The victims of gun killings are overwhelmingly male and disproportionately black, according to Bureau of Justice Statistics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data. Compared with other parts of the country, the South had the highest rates of gun violence, including both murders and other violent gun crimes.

This speaks for itself but it is not stated that Blacks disproportionally commit these crimes as well.
