Ya the people are buying like crazy now but I wonder what you guys think is a fair price for ARs and AKs and Ammo. Add to it what are you paying in your area??

I haven't even looked at what everything is going for because it doesn't exist here in any of the shops. Heck one guy came into our cheapest ammo store and bought over $3,000 worth of ammo. All that is left is the real spendy stuff from high priced dealers.

Fair:
AK- $200 I think is about reasonable for a real (full auto) one plus whatever shipping and customs costs to get it in the country. Another $50 to convert it to semi-only if the unconstitutional Hughes amendment must be upheld.
AR- Same as the military pays (Something like $800-$1000 I think?) for good brands like Colt, FN, LMT.
Ammo - What we paid in the late 90's, adjusted for inflation (not artificial inflation caused by wars, outrageous fuel/raw material price fears, panic buying, etc)
It doesn't help the RKBA if "Joe 6-pack" can't afford an EBR and ammo because panic buying drove the price right out of his budget. We need more gun owners, not higher prices. EBRs, along with everything else, need to be "in common usage".

The last gun show I went to was pre-hysteria, but ARs ranged from $1000-1500 (no $600 plinkers), AKs ranged from $500-$1300 (no $350 wasrs). Not too bad but not too good either. Ammo is just as ridiculous as it is everywhere.
The next show is in a couple weeks and I'm almost afraid to go. People are acting like a hurricane is coming and the gun shops and shows are the local walmart.

What ever the price is now, if it is stil available in a year, it will be much higher. You had better stock up while you can! I need about $10,000.00 to put aside the stockpile i would like, but i dont have it. So i buy a little at a time, when i can. Unfortunatly, it means that i just will not get my "little black gun" that i have been wanting.

I'm Just going to be buying lowers just in case of an AWB.....haven't been to the shows around here to check even though I have really wanted to go!

Locally? It's hard to beat Vance's pricing for new guns around here. They move high volumes.
I recently paid $429 at Vance's for a WASR GP 10/63 AK-type (with 2 mags, bayonet, etc). But I got to cherry pick mine from stock, and Vance's price beat what I found them for online (factoring in shipping & FFL fee).
As I recall, the lowest priced AR's they offer right now are the Panther Sportical or Classic for $679.
Vance's also stocks Golden Tiger 7.62x39 for $27 per 100 rounds. Which comes out to maybe 2 cents per round more than buying 1000 rounds at a time online. I ordered some online over a week ago and it has yet to arrive. So I am buying 100-packs of Golden Tiger for now....that supports a local store anyway.
The nearest Academy Sports store, with their sale price $2.00/20 rounds 7.62x39, is two states away.
