I've been in Denver this week and a friend of my daughter has been saying that, permit or not, you can't carry in Denver..?
Seems wrong, (in a lot of ways), but could just be a mis-interpretation on her part.

That seems wrong

The links below are what I found

I’d suggest reading them. Some states like New York allow localities like New York City to place restrictions beyond the states. It doesn’t appear that Colorado does, or the Denver has any extra restrictions. Now I’m not a lawyer and I didn’t stay in a hotel last night so you really need to verify this yourself by an authoritative source.

That said I’d start with:

No open carry in Denver City or County. No magazines over 15 rounds in Colorado (sort of). And whatever you do, stay clear of the People's Republic of Boulder, where they may arrest you for merely thinking about certain black guns.
Boulder was not on the itinerary anyway but I'm not surprised to hear that...
All in all the food, beer, whiskey and weather were great. I see why so many folks like it around here.

As much as Denver protested, if you have a permit recognized by the state, you're good in Denver.

Denver was allowed to keep two pieces of legislation after preemption became law; their open carry ban and their AWB. Open carry applies to everyone while in the city, the AWB only applies to residents of Denver.

It's not a "sort of" situation; it's a >15 round mags are legal to possess but not to transfer after 07/01/2013. A majority of magazines aren't date stamped, and there was never a stipulation to address people moving here from other states. It's an unenforceable law that 55/58 sheriffs openly refused to even attempt enforcing.

I would worry more about what the laws actually say than what someone else told me.

Hence the practice of carrying defensive weapons that don't push the legal envelope. Regardless of your feelings on rights, probably good practice anyway as a gun owner to purchase and become proficient with a quality < 10 rd single stack and/or revolver. You never know when that could be your only legal option, such as my last family vacation to CA that was accompanied by a 2" Model 64 snub transported in full accordance with CA law, but available for nights in the hotel room and other potential calamities. Purchase of a few 10 rd mags for your larger capacity weapons is also not a bad idea.

Very good point. While my preferred sidearm is a Glock 19 with adult mags, I do have some 10 rounders. I am also more than capable with any of my 1911 pistols, as well as my shield 9, should circumstances require I rely on anything but my first choice.

How do you carry in CA?
If you’re not a resident, do they have a nonresident permit? I ask as I can’t see anything that shows they accept permits from any other state.

I wanted my CCW to circumvent Denver's bans. It worked for a while but it's no longer a "move long" card if you are stopped as a Denver resident with an AR or AK.

i have a simple solution. I no longer travel anywhere that there is even a chance of running into problems with a firearm. I had to travel for work for 30 years. Glad that’s over.

It was not carried. It was secured in a lock box in the trunk with 25 rds of 158 gr XTP Hornady Custom and brought into the hotel room at night as part of a daily load, unload, re-lock, and transport process. Much more comforting than being totally unarmed for a week and a half.

Ah
I see.
I guess it’s a little better. But Shall Not Infringed doesn’t have a clause that says you have to be a resident. As a Citizen I wish someone would sue and get this mess cleaned up. I’ve been shot at and I really don’t want to be in a place again where I can’t defend myself and others around me.
