Is there a company out there with an owner who take suggestions from customers. There are a ton of guns out there that we buy because they fill a nitch, not because they are our dream guns. I would love to see a Kahr arms or Kimber start making a new Colt mustang/government 380, a new Colt pocket nine and an updated Star BM with newer style trigger/hammer/ and safety, maybe even with an alloy frame. My keltec P3AT would be gone in a heart beat. With all the Concealed Carry holders out there now I think these guns would be more popular this time around. God knows they are selling for big bucks on the used market. I would love to see all three of these nicely made with Kahr or kimber quality in a new catalog someday.

There are. One of the biggies at Charles Daly was looking for suggestions on I believe this forum not too long ago. However, just 'cause they're listening doesn't mean you're gonna get your dream gun made. They're still very restrained by whether or not a new product will have enough of a market potential/demand, for it to be worth their while to produce.

Colt Python
Modernized/improved Enfield rifle
Winchester Model 70 - oh, wait...

+1 on a modernized, 10-shot enfield. I wouldn't change much...spruce up the sights although I'd keep 'em iron apeture. I smooth, tough, 10 round bolt gun, shooting something maybe more modern like 308, 243 or something...really neat.

True

But I think if someone was to take these designs and tweak them ie more polished more advanced sights (novaks), people would buy these in lieu of the sig 230's, Kel tec's, Bersa's, NAA's and a bazilion others out there. All three of these designs were thin (the most important thing with CCW), accurate and advanced for their time. A couple are more advanced and better engineered than the options we have now. I'm a huge fan of single action 1911 type guns, and prefer the lack of grip safety the Mustang and BM offer. The Pony was another to add to the list. Colts were very nice but I think a Kahr or Kimber can finish these gun better than the origanals. There is a market for a compact well made 380 and 9mm in the $700 range. The sigs, and full sized 1911 9mm are that or more.

As a side note

for all the people who have these guns a new copy would make parts and accesories available to them, especially the Star BM owners. I'm pretty sure the patents would have expired by now on these designs (except the pocket 9). Maybe Colt would even be willing to part with the tooling as too make it easier for a company to start building the Mustang/Government/Pocket 9 again.

The original Llama .380 with locked breech and better quality control. It's the closest .380 to a 1911, mine work very nicely but parts are a problem.

The Llama was another I thought of adding to my list but the government 380 was a more advanced design with cleaner lines. You would think Kimber would like to have a Baby version of their full sized guns. That was Colt origional plan. Hell I would buy a match set Matte stainless mustang plus II, Pro Carry with Rosewood grips if Kimber made one.

zx12rider, I like the Llama knockoff of the 1911 Much better than the Colt design. The Colt Mustang, the Mustang PlusII, the Pocketlight and the .380 Gov't model are all based on a Spanish design, the Star DK. I like some of the features of the Star, especially in the steel framed model as what Colt almost put on the market as the first Pony (Not the later DAO model) and that Iver Johnson and FIE put out, but the Colt Mustang's etc. I mentioned above have design weaknesses in the ejector in my opinion. The safety is good as long as it stays in the safe position, but there is no grip safety as in the Llama. The Llama is much closer to a 1911 than any Colt .380. the only differences between the locked breech Llama's and the 1911 other than size and caliber were the grip shape, the detent tube was screwed on instead of being staked, the grip screws have no inserts, the external extractor instead of the 1911 internal extractor and the screw that holds the mainspring housing in place that replaced the pin.
An American made .380 per the Llama, in stainless, would be a wonderful handgun.
By the way, I have two of the stainless Colt's and two Llama's. The Colt's are better quality, but a poorer design IMHO, and not up to John Brownings standards.

Beretta USA (BUSA) has a rep or two that take feedback and answer questions on Berettaforum.net (not an official BUSA web site). The degree to which they listen varies, but at least there's a conduit for user feedback.

ETA: What I'd like to see is more P7M8's being made, but only if they could match the quality of the older ones and take the billboard warnings off.

It would be great to see Colt DA revolvers make a comeback.
I wouldn't mind a brand new woodsman either.

I would snatch up one pf those 380s mentioned above in a heartbeat.

I would also love to get a gun package that came with a .22 conversion kit with identical sights to its "big brother"

The Remington 51 is a fine gun, doomed by manufacturing cost. I'm blessed with two, a .32 and a .380.

Taste that I agree with...:) I hope S&W does not make another 9mm revolver similar to the 547. Mine is appreciating astronomically.:p

There are others, but two which spring to mind:

1) a "9mmakarov": Something as close as practical to the size and feel of a Makarov -- I like the grip feel, the pointy-pointy ergonomics, and the heft in such a small gun -- but in 9mm, and new production. This would involve some compromises, I realize, but I think the end result would be worth it.

2) A revival in short-barrelled .45ACP revolvers. I admire and enjoy my S&W 625 with a 5" barrel; would be heavily tempted to pay for a 3" (or, possibly, 2") version. I know they've been made; what I'm dreaming about is some new production, to reduce the the usual result of scarcity of a desired commodity ;) Smith and Wesson people, I promise to buy a 1911 from you, too, if you'll grant this small favor!
