Was raised by my Uncle. He had an old Browning 12 ga. and a .22 semi auto (don't recall the brand. maybe a remington). He gave me my first gun. Stevens .22 bolt action single shot. All I can remember hunting with him is rabbit, squirel, quail, and dove. I sure got tired of cleaning and eating squirrel. Loved the rest.
My dad had a .35 Rem Pump, old Iver Johnsom single shot 12 guage, and Winchester 74 22lr, eventually replaced with a Rem. nylon 66, after he ran over it with a binder.
The only ones I recall: Forehand Arms 16ga single shot he bought at age 18 in 1911. I still have it. Win M74 in .22 short. H&R .22 Trapper model. Ortgies 32 auto.
My favorite of my Dad's is a Western Field 16ga pump with the adjustable choke. We've never shot it much but I always thought it was pretty dang cool. Also my great-grandpa's Savage Model 99 in .22 Hi Power.
My father just passed away on Thursday after fighting lung cancer for 2 years. He was only 54.
He wasn't into guns very long, but I heightened his interest, before long he had more and better guns than me.
Me and my brother split up the guns like this:
I got the Glocks 17, 27
I shot them today, It felt good to shoot his guns and think about the good times.
He got Mossberg JIC, Taurus 357 snub, Kel Tec P3at.
Original Springfield 1863, which I still have, Model 39 Marlin, (Still have), Remington 48 semi auto 12 gauge, Sporterized Mauser 98, still have. I wish I had the nickel plated Colt 1860 he had!
