Can anyone recommend a GOOD gunsmith with trapgun experience.?
I have an Ithaca 4E that needs its trigger sear replaced. I understand it must be fitted also. The parts are not drop-in like they are in newer guns.
My gun was made in 1934.
I already had one gunsmith pass on the job.

The best- Pat Laib, in Spicer, MN.

He specializes in Trap guns, I watched him work on the line at Del-Tone at the MN State Shoot.

Les at Diamond Gunsmithing. I’ve seen pictures of his work-stunning results.

He worked for Ithaca for a very long time (from his website):

Service is provided by Ithaca Gun Co.'s Head Gunsmith with 28 years experience at the original ITHACA GUN CO. factory in ITHACA NY.

While Les worked as Ithaca Gun Company’s Head Gunsmith in the factory at Ithaca, NY, he gained extensive experience in the repair & restoration of original Ithaca Gun Co. Firearms.

Les is ATA (Amateur Trapshooting Association) recommended and factory trained on the repair and restoration of Ithaca Gun's Flues & Knick model Single barrel Trap Guns and on all SKB models imported by Ithaca Gun Co.

Might try Kirby Shupp over in Missouri. He has a column in ASO and while he can't write worth beans he is supposed to be a good gunsmith. I think it is called "the shotgun shop".

I do not know if Larry will be at the Grand, but he is great. I have had him do a lot of work, albeit on lower end guns. I have seen his work on higher end guns, and it is wonderful. He does fitting, gunsmithing, and a lot of everything else. Shotguns are his focus. Try him.

Im gonna talk to him and the guy that worked at ithaca.
Thanks to everyone that took time to post.

Hey ‘farmer,

Crops and weather wait for no one. I live arond the corner from Feland’s. If you run into a pinch, PM me. I can stop buy the shop to help. Larry has the right amount of skill and cantankerousness (sp?). I think you are in the central time zone - I know Feland’s is.

Best
