h&k prices

This is a no brainer really, you always pay a premium for European engineering.

Explain Glock, Steyr, Beretta, FN and others that are all part of the European Union and use the same currency.

jjones45;
Just out of curiosity Russ what do hk's go for in Europe compared to m&p's?

If I just look at the 'basic' 9mm models (new) prices in Europe are something like this:

Glock 17 - 650 Euro
Beretta 92 - 1200 Euro
Beretta Storm - 950 Euro
Steyr MA1 - 720 Euro
S&W MP9 - 800 Euro
Sig P226 - 1400 Euro
H&K P30/USP - 800 Euro

Now you know why I rarely buy new guns.

The hk45 is definitely in a league of its own but at that steep price why not at least a smooth da trigger. People who shoot thousands upon thousands of rounds through their guns in a year I see this pistol very beneficial but your average shooter won't reach 50000 rounds in a life time. However that many rounds without issue is impressive and quite rare. I would love to own one but they are very expensive and when ever I'm about to buy one I decide to get something better for my needs and lots more ammo. One day if I can snag a hk45 for a good deal though it will be mine. In the mean time I'm happy with my usp45c that get carried quite often

Can someone please tell me why h&k prices are so high when compared to other popular and proven brands including glock s&w beretta and fn
IMHO they are worth the premium. Take a look at the Todd Green endurance tests:
the P30 went to 93000 rounds, the S&W M&P to 63000 and the Glock 17 Gen4 to 73000.
Both the S&W and the Glock suffered a slide failure that stopped the test.
The HK suffered a frame failure. Guess which is the worst failure... The S&W showed an accuracy decrease at 63000 rounds. The Glock and the S&W never matched the accuracy of the HK. After 93000 rounds the accuracy of the HK was the same as it was new. The HK recoil assembly is good for 25000 rounds, the opponents ones not. And so on.

The price of a product reflects the quality of the materials, the number of machining needed to built a part, the heat and surface treatments, the quality control, ecc. Take a look at a P30 slide, magazine, sights, barrel and then compare them to the same parts of its polymer opponents: the differences are obvious.
There are many enought accurate, reliable, easy to mantain, sturdy polymer pistols on the market; they are all going to do the job and some have incredible low prices for what they offers. Sorry, but HK is still in another class of pistols.
It's like criticize Mercedes just because a good Toyota does the same job, or Rolex because a Tudor keeps good time at half the price...
And I say that as a Norinco and Weihrauch owner, so I'm not a gun snob, but I'd still rather have an original Walther TT-Olympia and a Korth .22L.R. revolver instead of those...:D

5-shots, yet I see you haven't owned or own a hk. You must have bought the hype. Lol , jk

That's true, I bought the hype just after my father purchased one and I could compare it to many other pistols, including my P99.

I got a good deal on a used but LNIB H&K USP 40 full size, I paid the same price for it as a new Gen4 Glock 22. CDNN has brand new H&K USP factory mags for the .40 & .357 Sig for 30 bucks. I wish I could find a similar deal on a 9mm P30 or USP Compact.

IMHO, there is no better build quality & craftsmanship in a polymer framed pistol than the H&K line.

In response to post #26

Let's see here, glocks are made of a cheaper frame material (as are hks), are massed produced compared to other euro/high end guns and have thousands of L.E. contracts throughout the U.S. The more you make the cheaper they sell right? I think the U.S. is glocks best customer, exactly how many countries in Europe can a private citizen own a glock without having to give up their first born?

Styer, yeah well the handguns just look (and are) cheap, maybe you have not priced their rifles lately?

Beretta and FN, here we have 2 companies both have giant military contracts (all over the world) both companies combined have over 600 years in business. Yeah sure they have cheaper handguns but fn makes some pricey rifles. When you sell 4 million rifles at over €2,500 each I'm guessing you could sell a handgun for $6-700. They also have the facilities to mass produce.

Hk has contracts but not nearly like the above stated, not every unit in the armed forces carries an MP7 or MP5.

I'm guessing for every 1 hk handgun sold, 50 glocks are sold.

For every 10,000 fiats made (large production facility) 1 Ferrari is made.

Production capability/ production cost/ consumer price paid.
