Doesn't matter what happens in the House. It's DOA in the Senate.

It matters because they get a little closer it seems like each time. It matters because they have flipped some seats in some states on the senate side. Look at Alabama for example. Doug Jones is a prime example and one who I guarantee you would vote for this. It matters because the industry as a whole seems rather quiet this time around about this and I’d rather be on the offensive than the defensive.

See gun owners are really good at talk in echo chambers like this and sitting on their loins, while your enemy is very active. In fact, gun owners and the industry seem to always be on the defensive instead of the other way around. The enemy tends to make ground it seems almost every time. And putting all of your faith in the senate is a big gamble as I’m not sure they are as rock solid against this as many would think.

The sad things is, I’ve been telling some influencers that they should get ahead of some of these things for like a year, at minimum the last 6 months. None listened. Funny, all of a sudden many of them have made some strides because now they are thinking they need to do something. The thing is, they may already be too late. Drives me crazy.

Fine post. The Communists, believing 100% in history, ALWAYS play the long game. Generations, Decades, Eons mean nothing to them.

Marx, Lenin, Trotsky and Alensky have taught them all so well.

And once they have the power, they have the guns to back it up. It took 74 years (1917-1991) to bring the Russian Marxist down.

Exactly. I will point out that while you are asleep, the enemy makes its advancement and overpowers those that were inactive. In fact, if memory serves me right there was a gent named George Washington, some of you may know him, who used this very tactic to his advantage in the Revolutionary War. Perhaps Valley Forge rings a bell? While the enemies guard was down Washington sent troops in making a decisive difference against the Brits. Maybe that’s why this is such a big deal to me as the mans blood runs through my veins.

Not sure what you mean. There has been a huge swell in activism since the internet. Large strides have been made, mostly in our favor, due to extremely proactive 2A guys. We are headed for a showdown with regard to guns in the next few years IMO because the 2A crowd has largely thrashed everything and anything gun control and they are getting desperate and aggressive about getting rid of the semi-autos. They can vote to confiscate, buy back, restrict, regulate, none of it will work now because of aggressive grassroots campaigning we are now the ultimate power in the universe. There is an AR-15 behind every blade of grass!

Please. The Democrats -- even the antigunners -- are a far cry from being Communists. Equating them tells us more about you than it tells about them.

I heard it over the radio on some political shows I listen to. Here are some links to where they say they plan on going forward with this on 9/25.

Thanks for the clarification. It is a House Judiciary Committee that will be discussing the bill, not the whole House of Representatives, according to your first link.

Still, it is never a bad idea to communicate with our Representatives.

Yes, my mistake. It’s not the entire house voting on this. With that said, I contacted my rep and he said he was considering it because he hasn’t heard but from 3 people regarding this. And, I live in a very pro 2A state!

Sorry I riled you up. I stand by that post. Today's Democratic Party is not your granddads. Every Democrat running for Prez wants to to take your money and your guns.

Wake up and smell the coffee, per the great Anne Landers! :D

Contact your House Rep to vote this bill down.

WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN IMHO...

EVERY time in the darkened halls of Congress, when these bills are discussed in planning against our cherished freedoms, part of the discussion yes the LARGEST part should be...calculating the immediate backlash of calls, emails, etc. from pro-2A activists. Not being able to get anything done due to fax/email machine running out of paper, hard drive overload-crash. Phone banks shut down in lieu of melting.

Sadly it is not so.

Thanks:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: to the OP, no apology necessary for being the herald against the BEGINNINGS of an anti-2A bill

p.s. Backlash. Bass fishing line all tangled within the reel. Others R fishing, you R not fishing, boat is still moving. Do you have a pick. Quickly deciding to cut here, there, splice line together. Where is the lure again?

They are voting in this on 9/25. Contact your reps. It bans all semi autos, has a buyback provision but exempts all LE.

I see nothing where it bans all semi autos. The "assault weapons" or as the bill lists them as SAW are targeted. Yes I understand the jump that can be made (even a ruger 1022 will be on the list), but to me hr1296 looks like the standard awb bill put through yearly.

Saying it doesn’t matter what happens in the House might as well be saying it doesn’t matter what happens in the Senate or even until it reaches SCOTUS. Kill it before it gets legs.

Part of me, just a small piece wants this to just pass and go to SCOTUS for a final ruling. It's going to be pushed more and more every year where it's just inevitable it gets the legs. I think we need the court to definitively rule so we can get past this nonsense. With the current makeup it's our best chances of having a favorable outcome.

The current make up is better than it used to be, but Robert's is still too much of a wild card for my tastes.

Where is your information of a pending vote, and is it a for a committe vote or a vote on the floor of the House? The link you provided says the last action was referral to the Judiciary committee on 2/15/19. There is no indication of referral of the committee to the floor.
From what I see, the committee is planning a hearing related to gun violence on 9/26
https://judiciary.house.gov/legislation/hearings/community-responses-gun-violence-our-cities
That agenda statement does not indicate whether a vote will take place.

The House Committee on the Judiciary and Chariman Nadler are, of late, much bogged down in tremendously higher political theater than gun control.
