H&r 929 w/threaded barrel

I have an H&R Model 929 revolver .22 cal. w/2.5" barrel - Serial #AT0912XX.
Its barrel is threaded inside the muzzle end to the depth of about 3/8 of an inch. It seems that this would be for a silencer but I've always understood that silencers aren't effective on revolvers (except those with "gas seal" cylinders like the Nagant). Does anyone have any information? Thanks!

Maybe for some sort of blank-firing muzzle device?

Gun was likely used as a stage prop somewhere.
