Had a Glock-dream

Last night while I was sleeping, I had a dream that I purchased a Glock 21. I took it home and examined it and say why did I buy this piece of crap(in my real life I despise Glocks they are just so ugly to me)? I then when to the range in my backyard(I don't have a range in my backyard in real life, wish I did though) and fired a few rounds and was unimpressed, but I still had a couple boxes of .45 acp to go through still, so I fired off some more and slowly but surely I began to really like this pistol. By the end of the dream I fell in love with it.

Now I don't own a Glock nor have I ever desired to own a Glock. I do dream about guns I wish I had alot, I'm sure many of us do. But, this is the first time I dreamt about a gun I hate. Should I consider that my subconscious might be telling me to give it a try? I don't really have the money for a new pistol at the moment and I have other firearms on my list, but should I give this more thought, perhaps rent a Glock for a couple hours and see how I like it?

That's pretty bizarre.

However, I hated Glocks for years, but whenever I went to the range with my friend I shot his G30 and made .75" groups at 10 yards. I couldn't shoot that well with anything I owned at the time. After doing this a dozen or two times I finally saw the lightbulb and bought a Glock for myself. It was an overdue decision.

I would say that your dream is bizarre, but I once had a dream that a giant yellow anaconda was trying to eat my kid...I was holding on to the tail with one hand and a fence post with the other. My grip was slipping and I didn't know if I could let go, draw and shoot fast enough to stop him before he got to my child.

I always hated glocks and preferred 1911s. After 500 rounds, a new 19 grew on me and became my preferred weapon. After a 1000-1500 and some drills...it became my constant companion. Now I want more in different calibers and sizes. I still think it is ugly with a bad trigger. I still prefer the feel of a 1911. Yet the 19 always ends up on my hip.

If you think that's bizzare, at least I didn't have a Glock Wet-dream. I can imagine that there are people who have had them before. Usually my gun dreams are me just cleaning or disassembling/reassembling my guns, every so often I have a dream about shooting, and it's often on my dream backyard range. I just thought it was weird to dream about a gun that I hate. There was one dream that I had where I bought a SA 1911 that once I brought it to the range, the first time I fired it, it fell completely apart into broken parts. Now that's a nightmare.

I've only run about 1 box of .45 ACP through a Glock at the range. That was enough. I doesn't fit me.

I'm an M&P guy if it comes to plastic. I won't speak ill of a Glock. They run good. They just don't fit my hand. It's like trying to hang onto monkey bars that were made too big. Yeah, I can do it, but it's not comfortable.

I had a similar dream that I was first responding with my Glock 23 but could not run.

I was stuck in slow motion. Then Glocks all around me started exploding throwing dirt in the air. It was raining something that tasted like fruit punch. The ground was slick and I couldn't move quickly.

The rest of my team was busy loading ammo backwards into HK mags. One of them turned to me and mumbled something about a New York 1 trigger, while another just kept repeating "10 round mags, 10 round mags, 10 round mags..."

Then Team Glocks Dave Sevigny arrived and said:
"Quelque chose de sucre? Oui pourquoi pas."
and shot all the badguys who were wearing IDPA targets and holding Larue Tactical Dillos as hostages.

I fell out of bed and woke up on a Bravo Co. catalog.

I have never had a gun dream. If I had to have a glock gun dream,,, it better be over a 10mm. The rest are worthless to me. Not even good paper weights.

Lol - that reads a lot like one of my dream journal entries (when I have time, I try to date and record all of my dreams in a journal - I've got entries going back to 2003).

Actually had a dream last night that I blew up my S&W Mod 64 by accidentally chambering and shooting a .357 Mag round in it.

Anyways, I wouldn't go too Freudian in the examination. Sometimes dreams are weird. If you don't like Glocks, don't buy one. If they grow on you, then do so. Just as simple as that.

I just picked up my 3rd Glock a few days ago(G19)....I never hated on Glock but for years basically brushed them off based on their "utilitarian-ness".
Now that I'm older and more matured I've come around to appreciate how good a handgun a Glock is.
I can't argue with those that don't like the feel of a Glock(too me, they are comfortable and handle well) but past that they can't be beat.

Yes, you should give it a try.

While they are plain and kind of ugly, one should be able to appreciate their efficiency. They have something like 1/3 the parts of a typical hammer-fired gun, are very easy to field strip, (5 seconds?) and about as easy to DETAIL strip as a 1911 is to field strip.

Their triggers are spongy, but if you do your part, they are accurate. They have a very short reset. The finish is super durable.

Being durable, simple, and reliable is their whole thing. If that isn't enough, forget about it and move on. But I think everyone should try one. Maybe rent one at the range one day for a test drive. I've not been to a gun shop/range yet that doesn't have several Glocks for rent.

My problem with Glocks is that they're all the same - they're the McDonald's hamburger of firearms - uniformly average from gun-to-gun. All of my 1911's look different, have different features, and give different shooting experiences - which is why I own a lot of 1911's and zero Glocks.

I own 1911's, glocks and several others. I'll add an XDm to the mix tomorrow.

I disagree with your statement. Yes, all glocks look the same. But so does every colt delta elite, every kimber pro cdp II and every springfield champion. They don't look different until the end user adds something to it...same as with glock.

I hated glocks until recently. Once I actually fired more than 50 rounds at a time through it, ran a few drills, did some (controlled and accurate) rapid firing and spent some real time with it...I loved it.

As far as the dream goes, You need help.
I have never been a big fan of glocks. Don't get me wrong they work great.
But so does a Ford Pinto.
I have been brought up on DA revolvers so I lean to the same in a auto.
Sigs and S&W are the best out there. Not the striker fired plastic things S&W is making now, But the 3rd gen. all metal guns.
OH give me a 15 year old sig 225,226 or a 229. Now there is a handgun to dream about.

But, the Kimber is nothing like the Delta Elite which is nothing like the Springfield Champion. A Springfield TRP is nothing like a Range Officer - out of the box - never mind adding extras.

I have - Detonics Combat Master, DW Valor, DW VBOB, Les Baer Heavyweight Monolith, Wilson Tactical Supergrade Professional, and a Springfield EMP. I have a full custom gun ordered from Bob Marvel that will be totally different than any of the others.

My point is, that out of the box NONE of the 1911's are remotely the same - other than being based on the 1911 design. If you put them side-by-side on a table, you'd have no problem picking one from the other because of features, finish and design. Shooting each of these guns is a totally different experience even though (with the exception of the EMP) they're all .45's and of the same general design (1911).

If you put 5 Glock XX (fill in your favorite model number) side-by-side you couldn't tell them apart. Out of the box Glocks are uniformly the same - which is what Glock strives for so they can get uniform operation of the gun. Pick up any of the guns and the shooting experience will likewise be exactly the same.

I'm not gettin it, no offense. If I put 5 g19's on the table out of the box, no I couldn't. If I put 5 box stock EMP's on the table...I couldn't tell them apart, either. Start adding model differences, and I cant tell a difference. Other than that, it is one model by one manufacturer...I wouldn't expect them to be different.

I disagree again. Shooting a g19 is a different experience than shooting a g26. Shooting a g21 is a different experience than shooting g21sf. Yes, shooting two new g19's will be the same...but again, shooting two box stock 1911's of the same model will be the same.

They are if they are the same model, just like any design. Glock share uniform controls and similarites through the product line, but there are differences. G17's have a smooth trigger (that I install on any glock I purchase), the g38 has an extended slide stop, the 21sf has a different trigger reach...lots of differences if you shoot them. If you don't like them and don't shoot them, then they all look the same. 1911's are no different in that respect. My ex-girlfriend couldn't tell a Kimber from a colt because she didn't like or shoot 1911's. To her, they all looked the same except for different grips and barrel lengths.
