Hello everyone
I am thinking about buying a Hakim as there is still a ton of 8mm around and I kind of like ther big clunky appearance. I know they are very acurate but not always the most reliable.

Sound off on the Hakim

Brother in Arms

This is no bull, I knew a kid who had one who brought his dog along to the farm to help find the ejected brass. it threw it out so violently far. I don't know if he ever reloaded that brass, since I seem to recall it was pretty beat up after firing and ejection.

How the dog learned to "point" brass, I don't know, but it was pretty useful.

20 years ago, I bought a Hakim dust cover at a gun show, cut off the loop and mounted a rubber block that resembled the brass deflector on an M-16A2. It keeps dents out of the brass. Have to reload with a moderate burning rate powder to keep rims on the cases though.

Mine was the exact opposite. Mine was very, very reliable. However, it was not all that accurate. Better than an SKS, but not as good as a Mosin. Hakim thumb is a bad thing, as when that slide goes back BAMMM!

The Hakim comes with an interesting muzzle brake with small holes that really accentuate the blast of the 8mm round..... Wear really good ear protection....with ear plugs under that.;)
