Hi, i'm new on here and wanted to start off with some fun. Whats your favorite hand cannon? Mine is my Magnum Research BFR chambered in .500 Bushwhacker. 14" with a full titanium muzzle brake. We got 2526.7fps with a 400gr copper solid. The 310gr hardcast steps out at 2778fps and this is what it does to level 3+ Ar500 armor. The "little" one is my .460 S&W Magnum. Also fun, but bot as spicy.

At my age? Well, .22 WMR, actually. ;) I am not kidding. When I want to make some sound and fury, .22 WMR will do. I bought a 5.5” stainless steel Ruger Single Six, last year, and a 4.6” blued Single Six, the first week of 2025. I had no idea, until less than a year ago, that the Single Six is such a nice fit, in my hand, which includes a “natural” placement of the trigger, for my index finger. MaybeI will soon be wanting to try a Single Six for the .327 Federal Mag; I hear it is a little firecracker.

Frame of reference: I actually carried a 4” .44 Mag S&W Model 629 as a police duty handgun, during my first year of service, March 1984 to March 1985, when I was required to use a DA revolver as my duty handgun. It was not loaded with .44 Specials, and, I believed in training with what I carried. I then “backed-down” to a .41 Mag, for the next five years.

500 S&W for me, but as others have noted, once your wrists start to age the big guns become less amusing. I rarely shoot full power loads any more, finding them to cause actual physical damage which can require a week or two to heal. I still enjoy the cast 440 grain bullets in the X frame, but at a bit under a thousand fps...

I like the 390 gr spire points for the 500 S&W, from Matt's.

These 425 gr vaporizer bullets look interesting.

Well my .460 XVR is actually pretty worn out. Ive been shooting it for about 15 years or so and it feels like a sunday stroll anymore. Thats why i wanted the Bushwhacker, i wasnt getting the recoil i crave. 😂😂😂

WOW ... Now That is a Hand Cannon !!!
Dbl. barrel 12 gauge ... Awesome !

Mine is just a wimpy 41 Magnum ... that's it in my avatar ... a model 58 S&W

I think I'm suffering from ... Pistol Envy !

Love mine, an early model ... one of the earliest in fact @ 13xx, sometime in the 12th century.
It is a 62-caliber and once oriented to the aiming/firing, I can hit a man-sized target just about every shot @ 25Y.

The reload is a tad slow though ... ;)

I was gonna say, YEP My favorite hand cannon is LITERALLY a hand Cannon. Mine is not nearly as old as yours, Merely a reproduction someone turned on a Lathe. And only in .54. But I have enough barrel that I am soon gonna turn it out to a more proper .75 Cal. My Son and I have more fun Playing with that thing than any other gun in my collection. We use it as a crew served weapon and a little LARP commentary goes along with the fun. I gotta get some pics of the thing. It's currently down at the store hanging on the wall as a conversation starter.

Hand cannons , love them still at 69 , I have a few , Magnum Research BFR in 45/70 7.5 inch barrel, Ruger Super RedHawk in 454 Casull 7.5 inch barrel , and 2 - 44 magnum’s being a Taurus Raging Bull 8.5 inch barrel and a S&W 629 Classic Power Port 6.5 inch barrel .
The 454 I don’t run as hot as I used to but still like to shoot it . I may have the BFR and the 454 sold though I have a bear hunter that is quite interested in them.
