My mom's husband just passed away and he left me all of his guns. He was friends with a man named Don mihaljevick. Don was good friends with the late Elmer Keith. All 3 of them did a lot of shooting and testing and modifications to guns going all the way back to the 1960s in salmon idaho. This is a Ruger vaquero that belonged to Don and was then given to my moms husband in trade and has now been handed down to me. It's in 45 Long Colt and just a beautiful gun.

I like the "Dragoon grip frame" with the short barrel. that heavier frame and wider base gives the gun a good balance point.

Nice inheritance. I hope it stays in your family a long time.

Well that revolver has a turn line so I’m inclined to believe that you’re mothers husband shot the revolver. If it’s been shot have at it! Its a ruger if you shoot lite loads it will last for several generations. Shoot it and enjoy. I honestly can’t fathom owning a gun and not shooting it that just doesn’t compute . Anyway enjoy whatever you choose. Bob

Mighty fine looking Vaquero that you have recently received! Definitely of heirloom status if there ever was one. I would think that it has been used on quite a few different occasions and that it would make for a great companion anytime you're in the great outdoors there in Nebraska.

That is a very good looking sixgun. I do believe it would be a shame to not put a few rounds through it every once in a while. ;)
The man that owned it was a shooter. I am sure he would approve.
