Dear THR,
Which company made the best gun of the year 2012? It is not necessary that the gun should be the new edition to the line up. It can be and older model, but for the gun of the year.

This is more or less opinion poll to show what different people preferred in 2012.

Thanks

Ruger sr40c. Excellent, solid, reliable and accurate compact auto with reasonable capacity (9+1 in the smaller of the two mags that come with this gun, 13 in the larger mag). Plus, its the only gun I bought in 2012.

The poll doesn't list handguns ( which I realize would be difficult) so it is really manufacturer of the year. Given your poll is for 2012, not older firearms, I voted SIG for the p938.

First time I shot one (rented) I immediately sold my p238 because there was no need to have one anymore. I have had my p938 for about a month. Picked it up, cleaned and lubed it and have 400 trouble free rounds through it. I'm not going to clean it until I have 1000 rounds through it because if it runs reliably dirty, it will be reliable clean. It has been a great small firearm.

My vote went to smith and wesson for the very fine M&P line. I love mine and hope I get to keep it for a long time.

It's been a Glock year for me, more than any other. Picked up 3 of them (planning on a fourth), and just been getting into them a lot.

Second would be S&W for the 5" 629 that I recently shot, and have vowed to buy in 2013. It has changed my opinion on revolvers and .44 magnum.

I have more fun shooting a Colt SAA than any other gun. There is a reason this gun has been around since 1873, as well as the 45colt caliber.
