folks I've looked and looked but I cannot find if there is a specific handgun only deer season in Alabama. I see youth hunt, bow and black powder/muzzle loader, but nothing that specifically deals with handgun only.

does anyone know (and have a link) to a handgun only deer season in Alabama?

thanks.

I can not help you but many years ago I had asked N.M. Game & Fish about a handgun only season. They told me they did not have the manpower or $$$$ for a special season. SOOOOO, I asked why not have it during a bow or muzzle loader season. That idea was not warmly accepted.

There is no handgun only hunting season in Alabama. Handguns are legal for deer hunting during the regular firearm season. Handguns must be center fire with no minimum barrel length (except on WMAs where a minimum of 4" is required).

I have killed 18 deer in Alabama with a handgun, all during normal gun season. It's harder than a rifle but not that hard.

Using a handgun is a personal choice, a separate season is not necessary IMO.
