Handgun Pictures

Found this Single Six a few days ago in a local pawn shop....no box, no paperwork, but in ~ "as new in box" condition. While I really like the dark stocks on it, the fit is atrocious, evident if you look closely at the pics. I plan to make up a pair of 'black & white ebony' grips to replace these. (Same as the 3rd pic on my .44 Spl. Flat Top Ruger)

This Ruger .22 fills yet another spot in my growing .22 handgun stable. Old age and arthritis have made the .22 my fun caliber of choice.

I made up the holster some years ago for my 5-1/2" bbl'd Single Six .32 H&R...it's a good tight fit, for them both, & needing no keeper strap for casual field carry.

I've put less than a fifty count box of Federal Auto-Mags through it over the past several days with good/great success. Like my Colt New Frontier, the new Ruger will keep a cylinder full inside 2" at 25 yds from a rest....Haven't tried the .22 Mag cylinder as yet however. Best regards, Rod

Not a new gun, found it on a local classified site, a few months ago. When I first seen it, I thought it was just a regular S&W model 17. When I looked closer, I seen it had a full lug barrel, it is 17-6. Someone had taken the finger grooved combat grips off and put a set of S&W target grips on it. I ordered a set of English walnut grips from Culina grips for. Got them Monday. They are beautiful and fit perfect, just like all of John Culina’s grips.

What years
Not really sure - the Iver Johnson is from between 1897 - 1908, and the H&R we THINK is an " American", with the black powder frame which puts it between 1884 to 1904. Both were junked, then rescued and rebuilt by a gunsmith buddy. They had been hanging on the walls of a bar for 40-50 years when he got them.
They work.

Da Boy with the H&R - he says that funky grip fits him well. You can BARELY see the smoke from the black powder loads, 10gr of 3F. Also shot a very cool load, a "gallery load" of a 000 Buck ball sunk to the case mouth over 5 gr of 3F, and that was fun, light, and very accurate.

That's great. So , it's easy to say a person could have packed one of those and carried an 1892 Winchester at the same time. That's authentic history to me . If I missed it excuse. Are they a caliber that was avaliable in the 1892.?
