Happily traded gun for not-gun.

I traded my Dan Wesson for a Corvair. Even being 1983, I was at the wrong end of that deal.

Traded my .308 AR for a Sportster. The Sportster Gets WAAAAAY more play than that crummy .308 got or ever would.

Traded my International Harvester Garand for an '73 International Harvester Scout. Great deal for both of us.

Traded my set of huge truck tires (from my first Scout) for a Gold Cup.

Traded my 1911 for a Max Wedge Mopar with my brother. Ironically, it turned out that someone in the pistol's past had stolen it.

I can't remember what gun of mine that I traded for my TT500 Yamaha - obviously didn't give a damn about that gun.

Here's a rockin' trade sequence: Traded my gun (I believe it was a 1911 or 1903) to a gal who got her's & her husband's Harley shop in a divorce settlement. She had a never-mounted XR1000 engine on a factory stand. I looked at that gorgeous piece of art for some time until someone from Erik Buell's operation got with me. They were buying up all the XRs they could get their hands on for the RR1000 (if I recall correctly) and they had one properly tuned and sorted-out bike with more miles than they wanted to deal with. I got that bike for my brand-new engine. So, three-steps later, I traded a 1911(?) for a whole XR1000. Winner, winner... CHIKEN DINNER!

Got to be a few more that might come to mind later.

Then there are the myriad times that I have sold an unwanted gun to finance some other inanimate boondoggle - basically a two-step trade.

Todd.
You made some great trades! Never had an XR1000, but I did have an XLCR Cafe Sportster which was a lot of fun.

That XR was a hoot and provided me with memories for a lifetime while the pistol was just another Colt I had that I wasn't shooting and don't even remember. XLCRs are retro-hot right now. Can't touch one for a wheelbarrow full of 9mm.

Damn, that pricey! Had some good times with that bike, but it also tried to terminate me a couple of times. lol

Ahhh. The heady days of English or American motorcycling before loctite.:D

I see loctite is making an industry mandated return in the shooting world as far as red-dot sights. A pal was lamenting having to buy loctite for his pistol sights and I told him - not to worry, I used to own Nortons and Triumphs.;)

On the XLCR it wasn't just nuts loosening, although they did that, too. Parts actually broke from vibration induced metal fatigue.

I rode Triumphs in the 60's and 70's, now I ride a Triumph clone, a Kaw W650.

If you want to talk Motorcycles I am all in---but it will close this thread.
Me too. I once traded a Taurus PT99 and a cheap Chinese junk 12ga pump for a ninja 250ex. It was my 3rd bike and 2nd ninja. It was hot for a 250 and I never really understood why it was so much hotter than other ninja 250s I had played with. I got it from a soldier who was deploying and I had trouble with the title. Guy he got it from was on gulf somewhere on an oil rig. Soldier never titled it but filled out all the title stuff TO title it. Soldier deployed before I could get him to title it, and promptly managed to be KIA in Afghanistan. I had given up on the bike after paperwork sat unanswered for a year at which time oil rig dude finally got the mail I had been sending him and wanted the bike out of his name and he sent me a freshly minted title. Bike had sat too long outside in the rain kicked over in the weeds from my frustration. Never ran again after I got title.

And that was the first PT99 I had which was by far the best shooting. The one I have now is easily the best looking... I wish I had that first barrel in my current gun.

About 10 years ago I traded a softball bat for a Hakim rifle and a Traditions inline.

About 15 years ago I traded a home 5 disc cd changer/stereo for a Mosin of some sort.

About 5 years ago traded a Kahr CW9 for a 2003 Cadillac Deville that had a bad coil and spongy brake pedal. Coil cost me $150 and someone put the rear calipers on the wrong sides, bleeders down. Got 3 years out of the $450 Cadillac, til it started having Northstar problems and became someone else's to deal with.

I've made 4 gun trades for something other than another gun or USD; 1 for pre-1965 junk U.S. silver coins, 1 for a Meprolight M21 reflex sight, and 2 for .223 and/or 5.56 ammo. Everyone was happy with the exchange and that's how it should work.

Something that I have long regretted...I once traded an Ithaca Featherlight 16 gauge shotgun for a compound bow. Never could shoot that bow without peeling skin off my forearm...hated it. Sold it outright...but have always regretted getting rid of that sweet 16.

Ive traded other things for guns several times, as noted previously. Can't think of a single time I've traded guns for other things though. I've sold them to fund other things, but I'm guessing most here have.

I traded a CR125 dirt bike for a Smith&Wesson 686 once. I thought it was a great trade. Later on it was stolen. Guy who stole it didn't touch any of the other guns in the house. Just the 686, some jewelry, and a bottle of wine from the fridge.
I have a feeling the guy didn't like the trade after a while.

Sorry to hear that but I can visualize him riding away on your dirt bike wearing new bling with a 686 on his side while taking a swig out of the wine bottle. Seriously though, having your home robbed is an awful thing to happen especially when you have a good idea who did it. Happened to my mother and she never really got over it.

I almost forgot that once upon a time I traded a Ted Williams (Montgomery wards) model 200, 12 ga for a laptop.
I should’ve kept the 12 gauge, cuz I’m sure it’s still running glitch free

Ted Williams was a Sears and Roebuck house brand.
The model 200 was a Winchester model 1200 pump made for them and the 300 was the model 1400 semi-auto.
