My supplies on black was starting to run low this year so I went out searching, finally found some, two cans of 3f Goex was around $50 or more. Now I want to try some Swiss just for the added power in my ROA's. I not a big fan of the substitutes but I have used Pyrodex P in the past but now it is nowhere to be found local. Haven't tried 777 yet but did try and find some, seems everyone has the pellets and not the powder. Graf&sons will sell Swiss online but the $27.50+$5.95 hazmat and insurance fees kind of hurt. Buffalo arms may have slightly better prices but the minimum order is 5 lbs. Anyone know where to get Swiss powder near North West area in WV such as Charleston, Parkersburg, etc. Cabelas in Wheeling doesn't seem to have it on their web page, of course thats getting further away and with the price of gas that hazmat fee might not be all that bad. I keep reading about all the regulations nowadays, I must have missed something as its been awhile since I had to buy some and the shelf life of BP seems to be forever. What are the rules in WV, do I need a bomb shelter to store the stuff?

a friend of mine was going thru clarksville mo and picked me up 25 lbs of kik 2 ff from powderinc. for 12 buks a lb.i was shocked at the low price as you cant even find any around here period.we avoided the hazmat by picking it up but i think hazmat was only about a buck a lb on a 25 lb order anyway.ive heard good reviews on the kik powder also as being clean burning and easy to shoot with.

if you have much shooting planned with bp in your future you mite want to find and order some from whoever has it. 25 lbs is really not that much powder. i go thru maybe 2 lbs a year sighting in inlines before deer season and rec shooting of cap and ball guns. a rifle shooting 100 grns at a time will burn up a lb pretty fast.

You may want to save your money. Swiss is great powder, but it is not all that much more potent than Goex. The reason Swiss is valued by BPCR shooters is because it burns cleaner and a bit more consistently than some other powders. But as far as extra velocity is concerned, you will milk more velocity out of 777 than you will an equal amount of Swiss.

You might want to call up Graf and get a pound or two of their house brand of powder. It is really Schuetzen, just in a bottle labelled for Graf. Both Schuetzen and Graf's house brand powder are made in Germany by Wano. They both use the same buckthorn alder charcoal that Swiss does, which causes them to burn cleaner than Goex. Less fouling to clean up. Schuetzen and Graf powder are a better powder than Goex, for less money than Swiss. As a matter of fact, Graf has both Schutezen and their house brand of powder on sale right now for $11.99. FFg and FFFg. That is a very good price. I paid $16/pound for the last batch of Schuetzen I bought through Maine Powder House.

Have some from Graf on order, was a great price, bought enough to offset the hazmat fee.

I have a BP Dist. 7 miles from me. I get the 25 lbs. bags of bulk powder for $11 bucks. I like the Triple 7 much better than the BP in my ROA.:)

There's a dealer in Milton, WV that lists having Goex, Goex Bulk and Diamondback powders. Milton is only 32 miles from Charleston, WV.
Maybe they can help you out or know someone who can.
Their name is Premium Powder & Pyrotechnics.

The only other black powder dealer that I've learned about in WV is Cain's Outdoor in Williamstown which is 87 miles away from Charleston. You should inquire with them about the brands that they carry. They have a toll free phone number and an email contact form.

Are you familiar with either of them at all? :)
