I have been thinking about investing on one but can not seem to find anybody that can offer some first hand experience. I love that I could use my exsisting 1911 45acp and turn it into a carbine. If they are worthy I may just buy a 1911 45acp lower and just keep it rigged like that as a customizable rifle that I can shoot at the local range.

Thoughts????

.45 doesnt gain much speed (unless really slow powders and really light rounds, like 185 gr.) in carbines. Would not be worth much in the end other than a decent 50 yard gun.

There are other conversion ideas for the 1911, but they have all failed to astound the gun community. My favorite is the MSH stock with 16" barrel conversion. Doesnt feed or operate correctly due to the longer barrel length interfering with the unlocking process, not to mention the legal issues of attaching the stock only (no barrel).

I would most likely stick with finding a Marlin Camp Carbine or a Thompson (heavy).
