Has Covid killed the Gun & Knife Show?

Shows cancelled til summer here I heard.
Last one was in Nov.
Half the customers didn't wear masks (most dealers did not).

Most folks will make personal choices whether events are essential or optional and decide from there.

We are still having regular shows down here in sunny FL (well its kinda damp and windy right now), but ya, almost nobody wearing masks and they have been packed like sardines lately.......

Im not a COVID panicker, but even I was a little wary about being squished in close quarters with that many people. People are gross.......

OGCA is still on in March, as of now. That would be the weekend of the 13th-14th in Wilmington, which ain’t too far from Cincy.

Can't help out too much, being in a bordering state to yours. Used to have a couple shows near me that have been cancelled. Iirc the Syracuse show happened, but couldn't go.

Welcome to the forum.

Around here what has killed the Guns shows, are all the jewelry, oil, and miscellaneous booths selling items not related to the shooting sport in additions that they price used firearms at new or higher prices, along with $80 for a box of bulk 22 lr ammo of 325 Winchester.

There was one a couple of weeks ago down there. I went to one in Dayton last week and Columbus the week before and it was jammed packed. Had to wait 20 minutes last Saturday in Dayton just to get in the door.

Everyone had to wear masks but it was pretty much shoulder to shoulder walking around it last weekend. I went to the Columbus one on Sunday and it was still pretty full.

Here's another list as well: Ohio Gun Shows • 2021 list of gun shows in Ohio (gunshowtrader.com)

The shows killed themself long ago. Pay to get in, pay tax, prices are usually higher than a local shop, 3006 signage on the door. Dealers there are usually the crustiest off the crusty gun dealers who know everything, same stuff every year.
I used to go just because I’m an addict. Probably won’t go this year because some rent a cop at the door will harass me about not wearing a sheep skin.

Probably a state by state thing. I have got a few good guns at gun shows ...... I've also bypassed a great deal of junk. Probably where I live, covid has hurt; the few places that hold them wind up being crowded, plus given the expense of tables, both make it tough in normal times. Add in social distancing & masks and it just becomes a black hole of expenses.

Know an old timer that just had to go to the show.
Covid soon after and now nursing home.

One can to some extent, limit risks.
He didn't.
Now he's screwed.

Know folks that got it and it was no big deal.

If you're over 70...........hell avoid the show to just limit risk of regular flu/cold etc.

Same here, you should be in a show in Miami in the middle of the summer when it's hot and sticky... Hey!!! Thank goodness for face masks, this summer I'll put a sock in mine maybe it will mask the aroma outside the mask.

Does anyone know if there are any gun and knife shows scheduled for this summer in the Cincinnati Ohio region?
Thanks for all the advice I see where they've got a show scheduled in April in Sharonville which is about 8 miles from where I live by then I should have both doses of the vaccine

I agree. They are having them here again but I'm not going. Too many mouthbreathers and gross people back when things were normal to go in the middle of this pandemic.

Before about 2015 the shows in my area (Central Florida) had got to the point where it was still just barely worth the $10 admission and crowds to maybe find something rare or weird or the infrequent legitimately good deal.

Now I’m pretty sure the admission is up to $15 a head, packed as always with covid thrown into the mix, and prices through the roof.

2020 might be the nail in the coffin, but in my opinion gun shows have killed themselves as much as any outside factor has sped the process along.

Killed?

Not yet, merely life-support.

County Commissioners, now, THOSE I have seen kill guns shows. Even then, a couple have re-arisen in zombie fashion to torment their attackers.

Todd.
