Our local shops are trying also, prices havent gone up significantly (except and one place recently, trays of.primers are at 10/100.....which is till 1/2 what folks are asking outside of the stores) but limits have been set, and generally the shops try to make sure theres SOME ammo available to everyone at a reasonable price.....

I Also try to remind people that they dont HAVE to try to be fair, were literally at their mercy for access to stuff like primers, powder, and loaded ammo.
Unless of course were gonna drop 10k+ and find a freight forwarder who will work with us to get a large enough order to barge.

Pre-pandemic, this forum seemed to have the de rigueur local gun shop or big-box retailer bashing threads only about once a month.

Since, we seem to be seeing these threads (often creatively titled to belie an OP's intent) a few times each week.

GunnyUSMC broke it down effectively in the first page; I'm not sure why we (myself included) keep getting sucked into posting in threads that do little to inform nor provide new information, simply mostly giving way to the common complaints and venting of those who haven't been paying attention to the firearms, ammunition and related supplies market since the advent of the corona virus.

The information is out there. At this point, there's not much more we can all do except be patient and hope for the best.

well back in my day, you could buy ammo for a nickel, course you had to walk through the snow up hill both ways..... In all seriousness, its worth repeating that old, old forgotten truth: Elections have consequences.

All I know is. Those local, online or whatever that raised prices to the Rediculous I will remember. Those that held the line and at least tried to do the right thing for their customers, I will also remember.

OP - Why did you bring your rant here? Are we as a group smarter and better informed now since we have learned that you had a bad experience in a a gun store and that your bad experience involved dog crap?

If you really hate the joint all that much - vote with your feet and your wallet.

Anybody know what channel The High Road is on?

I've used midsouth shooters supply several times and experienced no issues and will buy from them again.

    Aaah economics.

Those that perhaps did keep their prices at “acceptable” levels quickly went out of stock, and then had to resupply, dealing with the same economic laws that we do our commerce by, and so if they wanted to stay in business, their prices increased accordingly.

inflated prices during a pandemic keep the hoarders at bay, while keeping some hope alive for those who really do need some supply just to subsist.

I’ve been shooting and loading only slightly less than normal, because I understood prior to this mess, that economies ebb and flow, and wise men prepare while they’re able.

But we also need to remind some of the greedy ones that our memories are clear of those who gouged people during tough times. Karma rules.

Would you prefer he price it under market and that the speculators buy him out then turn it on GB?

he’s got stock locally because of those prices and it’s the right thing to do.

"Shortages" and inflated prices have happened before, and
PLANNING AHEAD for the "what ifs" is what I practice. I
have plenty of guns, ammo and other "things", so all of this
turmoil doesn't affect me at all.

When things get more sane, then I'll buy more stuff.

Gunny is right. A few things have happened and it's only just begun. Hang on Axis II, it's gonna be a bumpy ride and if we are lucky, we might live through it.

Midway just lowered prices on 9mm. Still not great but we're headed in the right direction(for now, inflation can wreck everything)

I actually but most of my cleaning supplies and sometimes holsters and cases fro Amazon. I am Prime member and therefore pay no shipping getting 2 day deliver on most items. I have found the prices to be competitive especially because of the free shipping. I wish they sold magazines ans ammo.

I stopped shooting. Haven't been to the range or fired a shot in over a year. Gun owners can not substain the cost of buy and shooting ammo at current prices. At least that is my hope. After all the stimulus checks, PPE loans, and tax refunds dry up, it's my hope that all these gun shops and retailers are left holding the bag and are forced to discount their inventory or risk going out of business.

@Axis II: my LGS experience is the same as yours. Even before the pandemic when it was a buyer's market, they still were selling significantly above inet pricing and they still acted like they were doing customers a favor by helping or taking their money. I buy from whoever has the best price and service. 9 times out of 10, that not a LGS. The clerks have a know it all donkey's behind attitude in just about every LGS I've ever been to.

Perhaps the people who strongly dislike gun shops and the staffers thereof should just get out of shooting sports and avoid all the aggravation.

There is another shop 20 miles away with the same inventory, they own a single store, while this guy owns 6-7 and that single store has 9mm for $25 per box. Probably same supplier, same customer base but why jack it up? They always seem to have ammo too. When Obama got in he did this too but not as bad. A guy I worked with was married to a family member of said 6 store owner and she told my co worker that they had pallets and pallets of ammo and he was taking advantage of the storm.

One other large size store flat out said on FB they wont have any 9mm or 223 because they refuse to pay what the vendor wants because once they mark it up they feel its screwing the customer. I can see the small stores having higher prices and I support them to a point. One of them wants $600 for an M&P pre covid. I have had a few things transfered to them for $25 and then I buy some overpriced cleaner, patches or targets from them to show my support but no way I am paying $200 over everyone else for a gun.

They do when you order reloading bullets online and have it shipped to store and your told they cant find it, come back. I come back and it takes 30min (not joking) and i'm told it appears someone hid it. This happened twice. Or you stand at the empty counter for 10min while everyone stands around or walks past you and ignores you. Its been several issues with cabelas so bye, bye.

Never said I hate anyone. Dont take it personal. I like visiting a couple LGS but when you start hosing everyone thats wrong. As soon as the stimulous checks hit this guy doubled everything withing a week. He closed down and then bam! double priced everything gun related. Cleaner, ammo, guns, scopes, etc. Sell your current stock at normal price and when it runs out and you pay more than charge more. I dont think its right that a store 20min away has ammo for $20 cheaper and they only own 1 store and this guy owns 5-6 stores. Cabelas, sheels, and other shops have primes in bricks for $60-70 while these guys have bricks upon bricks cut open and want $12-100. Thats $120 a brick. double or more than what everyone else wants. Picked up Black powder and the single shop in january for maybe $6-7 over normal price. Store that owns 5-6 stores wanted $50lbs for 777. That was back in January.

A couple of pages based on yet another price/availability rant is about all that's needed.
