I was cruising in to work the other day thinking about taking off and putting back on my CCW holsters. Snaps, hooks, paddles, etc., I got 'em all. All of a sudden it hit me. Velcro!

Why not have a strip of the soft (loop) side on the inside waistband of your pants and a square / strip of the hard (loop) on the holster? You could position it wherever you wanted it and at the angle most appropriate for the position! One holster, multiple pants!

Now... I ain't that smart as to come up with a truly original idea, let alone one that could work. Surely someone somewhere musta tried this before? Who made one and what drawbacks were there? There has to be some, but I'll be darned if I can think of them. Now, mind you, I'm talking some industrial strength Velcro here, not some wimpy stuff.

I've got a Galco Deep Cover that I hate. I think I'll try out a prototype of this idea when I get home this weekend.

Feedback, anyone?
 
Yeah, I've been using the setup you describe for 16 or 17 years now. I bought it from Lethal Force Institute. The holster is a Ted Blocker 'LFI 1' rig I think they called it. It came with a belt and the holster. The belt was lined with velcro. I replaced the velcro on the belt once before the belt was too old to use. I'm on my third belt now but the holster is going strong (Yay, Ted.)

I had the mag carriers made for me by a nice biker guy who I did some work for ($6. each!). My local shoe repair shop re-does my velcro for about 2 bucks a pop, but I pick up the velcro at the fabric store where the ladies buy bulk fabric for dress making and such. Lotsa miles on this rig, and its still the holster I use the most. I recently painted it all with black leather dye to freshen it up a little. Great idea, go for it. The only drawback is after awhile the thread starts working its way loose from the belt and you have little hanging threads that need to to be trimmed off (wah!).

I've been considering this rig but I want to know does the holster move or come out of your pants any when you draw?
 
No, not in the least. It holds it real rock solid sucked up to the little hollow in my back at about 4:00 and does not move when I draw. Nothing shows below the top of my beltline, no beltclip to flash, nothing. Every little bit helps with concealment.

The two single mag carriers are sweet in that they are extremely more comfortable than a double pouch and can be placed at any odd angle or spacing that you want for maximum comfort and speedy access.

This rig is so cool. It sucks up the gun and mags so tight to my body that its dang near invisible even with no jacket on. Like a second skin. The slightest ballooning of my shirt obscures it all rather nicely. People rarely notice it even when I wear it around the house like that, openly. Yet its not too tight to impede the draw any either. I was wearing this rig when a dog attacked me & my friend and he said he never seen me draw, it was like it grew in my hand and he was at elbow distance. Maybe he was distracted by the dog but it is fast. (one in the grass turned the dog).

Maybe thats why I still use this rig. It allows a fast draw and is highly concealable. I've got newer holsters that sit un-broken in cause I always go back to this one. I considered Slicing the thumb snap off before, but its never got in the way or anything so I left it. No doubt it'd still hold it properly though. Do a full length lining of the belt all the way up to the holes, for maximum versatility in placement.
 
Check out Andy Artoonian's sight @ www.horseshoe.co.uk - he has a holster that attaches to an elastic belt w/ velcro that is worn completely inside the pants and can be completely concealed by a tucked in shirt.
