aside from successfully defending myself from a cougar and a bear (on seperate ocasions) i have twice used my EDC to fill my deer tag. last fall with my 1911 @ 40 yeards... good chance to check hollowpoint performance.

Down here the deer are so small you’d have lost most of the meat using a.45

I had one several years ago acting disoriented late one night on my back deck. I called the PD for animal control, figuring they'd want to know if it was indeed rabid so the disease could be documented and tracked. I was told that opossums do not get rabies, but they'd still come if I needed them to. Other than rabies, I had no other concerns, so I let it go and did some reading up. Sure enough, I earned opossums maintain a body temperature slightly higher than that of other mammals in their size class, and that elevated temperature seems to make them largely immune from the rabies virus.

So, I learned something new that night, and I'm from the land of possums (my first job was even at a farm named after them.)

Old Florida joke: Why did the chicken cross the road? To show the possum that it can be done.

Nope, training only. Only once have I thought about even drawing was a fox i initially suspected might be rabid, because it was in the dirt road and I had the dogs with me.

But it was just young and curious.

You did not have a "None of your darn business" selection, so I did not vote. I don't understand why people ask these questions.

I dont understand why people have to enter a thread they do not intend to answer in the spirit is created, just to disparage it. And bring a holier than thou attitude to boot.

Its much easier to just ... not do that.

Only on critters. I live in the country and hunt and fish and trap, so I have shot quite a few animals.

I am unsure if I should vote drawing attention to it prevented a crime or not. I don't want to go into all the details about why but I was in a cemetery with my wife & two daughters (they were about 5 & 3 then). We had knelt down & said a prayer at my Mothers grave. We were on the back side of the cemetery on a weekday afternoon. No one had been around when we knelt down. When I stood up & turned around there was a fellow sitting in a SUV staring a hole through us. I honestly don't know what he had on his mind but I pulled down on my shirt tail where it was covering my gun as I looked straight at him. The next thing I heard was an SUV cranking. Not sure if I handled it right or not but nothing happened & I am thankful for that.

Homeless people hang out in cemeteries because no one tries to run them off.

A road rage incident where the aggressor tried to run me off the road so I stopped in parking lot to get away from them. This person followed and came sprinting towards me with a metal bat type object. I used my truck door as cover and immediately pulled my CCW Glock 27 and trained it center mass, he immediately stopped approximately 15 feet away and spouted off at the mouth for a few minutes. Eventually he got in his vehicle and drove off, NEVER been more scared in my life.

Presented firearm and stopped myself from being assaulted.
