Nice that it uses Ruger or Glock mags but I don't have a Glock. Ruger seems quite proud of their mags so since I have the insert to use Glock mags I was wondering if they were more reasonable.
Any aftermarket ones for decent prices (that work well)? Not being a Glock owner I don't know for sure but it look like G17 or G19 mags should work.
I can get good mags for my 9mm 1911 for $15 ea on sale so I cringe at $35 a mag.
(when I have to buy the 10 rounds ones in CA $35 ea gets pricey)

I have read elsewhere, that among all the things Glock does really well, one thing they don't do well is make reliable 9mm 10 round full size mags. Of course if it is just a plinking gun it probably doesn't matter.

You might consider the Magpul PMAG 10 GL9 Magazine (UPC: 840815117568), which is the 10-round version of Magpul's magazine for the Glock 17. The Magpul Glock mags have worked fine in my PCC, although it is widely recognized to not use steel-cased ammo with those magazines. The magazines can be found for just over $9 and up.

While the G17 version gives you no capacity advantage over the G19 version in California, the G17 version will fit in more Glock pistols than the G19 version if you ever get any Glock pistols.

I wish I lived in a free state where I could......
    Maybe when I retire.

Thanks gc79 +Jim Watson appreciate it.
    $13 for 10 rnds isn't as bad as $35
I don't mind spending money if I have to but a less expensive solution is always desirable (if it works well)
Heck half the time you have to pay more for the crippled 10 rnd ones...

I'd stick to plinking or PCC matches with the aftermarket magazines, real Glock for home defense.

Another vote for the Magpuls. They run like a champ in my PC.

If you are okay with the magazine sticking out, you can get ETS 31-rounders for $22. Their 15-rounders go for $17, which is not the best in the world where Magpul sell them for $13 on their site.

Magpul makes 10 rd Glock mags in both G17 and G19. MidwayUSA sells them for $10 at times.

G19 mags are a bit shorter than the 17 mags? (ignorant on things Glock)
Since they can only hold 10 rounds no need for them to stick out more than is necessary.

Correct on both and if you ever do get a Glock, since you live in the Cali Fire Kingdom there's no sense in getting a Glock 17, 19 is fine.

I'd go for the magpul or G26 mags. My Ruger runs 100% with G26 mags.

I have used Glock 19 and Glock 17 OEM magazines, and Magpul 9 mm P mags for Glocks in my PCC 9, but none of them have been 10 rounders. All have worked fine.

MagPul, ETS & Glock have all run perfect in my PCC. Since you are limited to 10rds, get the Glock 26 mags. No reason to have it stick out further than necessary. I got 1G26 mag for mine, in case I want to shoot prone.

During our recent reprieve from the 10rd limitations, I bought a few MagPul Glock mags to run in my Ruger PC Carbine. They have been very reliable and I actually prefer them to the OEM or Korean versions

I think the suggestion to get 10 round G26 mags is very good.

I was to slow during freedom week and everything was pretty much sold out.
Nice to know the Magpul Glock mags work well in the Ruger.
OK G26 is the sub compact, since I only get 10:( (missed freedom week) might as well get the short ones.

Now I have a mag plan I just have to decide what to do for optics, my vison doesn't seem to play well with Red dots so maybe some kind of a 1X prism.
    Primary arms one maybe

A big thanks to everybody for their help and info on the Glock mags, I appreciate it:)

I voted for G26 mags but it occurs to me that unless they are less reliable (as someone alluded to but I don’t know), G19 ten round mags might be easier to change magazines quickly should the need arise.

I used 10 round 26 mags in mine, and had no troubles with them.

Most of my practice mags for my handguns are the cheap Korean 17 rounders. They worked great in the Ruger too, and are one of the best deals on Glock mags out there, but I see the OP is in CA, and isnt to be trusted with them. :)

RE: Magazine length in the Ruger PC Carbine

Remember that you don't insert a magazine into a carbine with the same grip that you use in a pistol...at least if your trying to accomplish it with any speed. The magazines should be reversed in the carriers on your belt also. If your magazines are shorter, they could cause you to jam/cut/smash your fingers when inserting into the magwell...it's even worst if you are running an flared magwell.

Disregard the above if you're not planning on speed loading

The magwell on the Ruger is so short it isn't an issue even with G26 mags.
