Survived Hurricane Ike with only cosmetic damage -- I won't be filing any insurance claims so its about as good as I could hope for!

Power is out, but we've back-up generators and enough fuel to not have to worry until at least Thursday.

So far, the only use I've had for my ammo stash is to use the cans to elevate my generator so I could change the oil :)

But our alert level is going up as the envy and frustration of the unprepared builds.

I've heard reports gas being stolen from parked cars, but otherwise what little news I've got, Houston has been pretty quiet -- Sunday morning the news reported only 30 arrests from Friday night through Sunday morning, mostly for burglaries of gun stores, liquor stores, pawn shops, auto parts stores, etc. Said they will be charged with looting as its

A cold front moved through last night which made it quite pleasant to be out side which should help keep things calm.

In my neighborhood it seems a miracle at nearly all the downed trees fell in the direction of minimal damage, and there are uprooted trees and large fallen limbs everywhere. My chainsaw is getting quite a workout. I thought the History channel show "Axe Men" was pretty goofy, but now I realized I'd picked up some good chainsaw tips from watching. :)

I curious about others in our area who can get online how they are connecting. We've both cable modem (Comcast) and DSL, the cable was the first to go out, about two hours before the power and is still dead. Phones never went out and DSL worked first time I checked which was this morning. Computer took a low priority until this morning.

Glad you and yours made it thru OK. Talked to my BIL in Kingwood Saturday morning but haven't heard anything since. Take care of yourself and keep your powder dry.
