Just what the title says. This is because I'm curious about the demographics of the forum more than anything else.

I'm talking about a real fight too. Where they're giving it all to win. Not high school fights where you spend most of the time standing around posturing.

But a fight where it's winner takes all and everything is on the line. It's a hidden poll so please be honest.

Yes, and I've lost very few. Having said that, the fights I lost were bad, reeaal bad. The last one put me on the couch for a month and it was two months before I could think clearly again.
Ah, misspent youth...

Yes, although these were high school/college fights (my "hobby" in college was getting into fights with the football team. Quite a few bar fights, as well.

I NEVER started the fight...just finished them...most lasted about 2 seconds...that's not to say I'm Superman, I just have a strange reaction to pain...Doesn't slow me down, just makes me pi$$ed off, at which point I put a whuppin' on the guy who hit me me (or tried).

Took a cheap shot to the face from a 240 lb. linebacker in college...the expression on his face was priceless...He figured I was down for the count...Even through bleeding badly (BIG cut over my left eye), I never went down, and my first action was to turn back and look him in the eye and say " I"m gonna kill you!"

Later, I studied various martial arts for years. Since then, I've NEVER had to use any of them. Alot has to do with "attitude. When you KNOW you're gonna take 'em out, they can see it in your eyes/body language. I KNOW I'm gonna kick your a$$ (and all your friends, too), so I just walk away. I'm now 51 years old, have numerous physical problems, and I'd still go toe-to-toe with most anyone. And, it'll still be a real short fight, as I don't have the time or the ability, anymore, to fool around. So I'm gonna take a lethal shot (much like using a gun) right quick, to get it over with before I get hurt.

I think you've failed to define your terms well enough. I don't consider a "fight" to be an attack. Somebody getting into a fight in a bar isn't the same as someone having to defend themselves from an attack on the street. I've never been in a fight, but I have had to defend myself from attacks on the street before.

I've never been in any real fights. I took a few years of martial arts when i was younger (i'm only 23 so not that much younger). The only "fights" i've been in were ones that i proved i could win before they got started and the other person backed down. Other then that i usually don't go looking for trouble. This isn't to say i wouldn't know what to do, its just i'd rather avoid confrontations.

I've never been in any fights to defend my life (knock on wood). If i were i would probably act/react much differently, but who knows.

I dunno why you're ragging on high school fights... us punk rock kids didn't posture, we threw f'ing punches

And it's all about how fights happen. It's easy to get jumped in the bad part of town, and that's why I keep all visits short and rare. But around my stomping grounds, it's mostly middle-class white college students. Act like you're not afraid and don't say anything stupid, and you will rarely have problems.

Snake Eyes...

That's one of the smartest fights you can have.;)

fight
1 a : to contend in battle or physical combat; especially :to strive to overcome a person by blows or weapons.

If you got attacked and did nothing but compilied you where a viticm of an attack.

If you got attacked and fought back it was a fight.

I've been jumped, mugged, and been in too many fights. Mostly in the wrong place at the wrong time, but my wife says that I have a 'punchable' face  I try my hardest to stay out of them now (didn't try so hard between 15 and 25). I have never used a blade or a firearm in a fight ( I have carried a knife nearly every day for the last 20 years) but I have been forced to use a weapon to get out alive once when attacked by 6 big drunk frat boys - I saw a couple of them later at the hospital and all of the sudden I didnt think I got off too bad (and they got arrested). What, a brick, I don't know anything about a brick officer??

The last 'fight' i was in was late one night when I was walking home from a pre-wedding party and as I came around a corner three big guys (i'm 5'10 190 lbs and not too fat) and I collided a bit, I apologised and then felt the punch. Right hook, caught me in the temple. I staggered an instant and then returned a flurry of chain punches that knocked the big SOB down, I thought I was going to have to get into it with the other two and was a bit scared but they didnt like what they saw (or maybe the other guy was the only SOB) so it stopped. Not fun, especially when the adrenaline dumps.

Martial arts is your friend.

The thing that always suprises me is the first time you get punched it doesn't seem to hurt as much as you remembered, at least not until tomorrow:D .

Ah, life in the city.

Stay safe

Exactly.

I, also, don't squabble over little stuff: seriously hurting someone, or getting seriously hurt -- there are only two possible outcomes -- are just not worth it.

I spent time (working!) In a Maxumum Custody prison and years returning people there who had been paroled. Yeah, I can answer "yes."

I am, also, smart enough to avoid such like the plague. :barf:

I'm too pretty.

Yes!!!

Beat up left for dead once, but it took three of them to do it. Never worked another snitch after that, and quit carrying a pop gun 9mm after that as well. 5 shoot outs, 2 officer involved shootings. Various other small fights, I prevailed, several cuts from knives or broken bottles. Stabbed once by an irrate female during a domestic call, she went to jail.

Yes, I've been in a few. I've been held up at gunpoint a couple of times and only actually robbed that way once. I've had knives pulled on me, rocks and cinderblocks chucked at me (!), things thrown at me out of passing car windows...

The area I used to live in had some pretty serious racial tensions in some places. I've gotten sucked into those sorts of arragements plenty of times unwillingly. As in, "Hey, white boy, dis our street."

I've only lost one fight, and that was the one where I was at gunpoint.

I've been shot (in the knee, with a .22...) but I've never been in a gunfight. I'd like to keep it that way.

Yep, I've been in many over the years. Mostly work related (LE, bail enforcement, etc.) some non work related and some others as well (been jumped, attempted robbery, etc). I've taken beatings, given them, taken and returned gunfire, etc. Thankfully I'm still here and work in a relatively calmer profession these days. I miss some of it, but my wife doesn't.

Unfortunately, too many fights have come my way. 17 years as a Bouncer will do that for you. I have woken up many mornings with a sprung nuckle, loose tooth, or my back feeling like it was gonna break. I consider myself too old to do that crap anymore.
I am retired from it all now and make my way in the world with peace in my heart, and a Hi-cap .45 on my hip.

it's been over ten years

But since I've quit drinking I have not been in any fights.
I've gotten angry but not even come close to fighting, since every fight I would get into now is a fight where at least one person has a gun.

This not fighting in over ten years doesn't include all the stupid junkie/drunks I've peppersprayed and knock over in San Francisco.
