Have you ever been shot?

Early 80's. Was out shooting at the rock quarry. Best I can figure out, I am left handed. I thread my belt to the right, coming out on the left side so any extra is poking to the right. Was wearing a new belt so it was stiff. Was shooting my 10-22. Turned the gun over, magazine was facing upwards, to replace/top off the mag, gun was pointed down and to my right rear. When I removed the mag, that little 2-3" inches of belt went right into the trigger guard and fired the last round in the chamber. I was surprised my hands were not anywhere near the trigger, one hand was on the pistol grip of the wooden stock the other held the magazine. I felt the bullet hit the ground close by my right foot. I looked down, and saw a long thread poking out of my sock. Hmmmm. Had shorts on. I put the gun down and pulled my sock down and saw I had a nice through and through bullet wound through my calf muscle. CCI Mini Mag HP's do a lot of soft tissue damage! The entrance would was long and about an 1" deep, maybe 2" long. The exit was just a little hole further down the bottom of my calf. No blood, no pain. Picked up my toys and drove myself to the hospital. Walked in, ID'd myself told the Nurse DO NOT put it over the radio, PD had to be called, I was PD at the time and my parents had a scanner they listened to. They didn't need to hear I had been shot. Nice through and through wound through the muscle, Dr cleaned it out by pushing gauze through the wound and moving it back and forth. Watching the foot or so of gauze disappear and go back and forth through my leg was interesting. They didn't sew/stitch it up, left it open and just covered it. I was back at work the next day PD Security at the bank. Got a nice scare that is fading and shrinking but that was it. X Rays of the leg are interesting. Lots of little pieces of CCI mini mag HP are scattered throughout my calf.

A local guy got shot in the face. Turkey hunting recently. He was charring a decoy in. And someone shot him from a vehicle. The shooter is facing charges. We can't hunt from a vehicle in Pa unless you are unable to walk.

I've never got a nail in the hand/finger stepped on my share.
Did have a drail hook go through my hand on time. ( drails are used mostly for catching bluefish, they mimic a school of fish swimming. They are normally a 1 pound football shaped lead weight with 3-4 inches of chain to a very large hook, you then attach a herring about 10-14 inches long)

one fell off they guy for next to me and my reflexes kicked in and I grabbed it, right through my had.

back to getting shot, my dad got peppered real good in his late teens after fleeing a girls house. There were still a lot in him after seeing the xray from his hip replacement. He got some shrapnel from the army to.

His brother got shot to with a shotgun, unfortunately from much closer in the knee. Shame to he was a very good baseball player and I believe it was just after talking to a baseball scout. He did coach Dave tailgater he was in the Mets In the 90s and the athletics I believe.

Glad he is okay. As a non-turkey hunter, can I ask what “charring a decoy” is? The only thing I can find is charring old cork duck decoys.

Not the brightest move I ever made, not by a longshot, but years ago I built some shot-shells for my .44Mag using #8 shot, .44 Special cases, and some of those Speer shot-shell capsules. After I got them assembled, I wanted to see how they “patterned.” So, I taped a newspaper page to a large tree, backed off 10 or 12 feet, and shot at the middle of the newspaper page.
Luckily I was wearing my safety glasses from work or I might be blind in at least one eye. As it was, I ended up with a few little blood-blister marks on my face and right hand, as well as a couple of dings in my safety glasses.
Don’t do that.....

.22 LR that was propped on a fence, fell over, and safety was not on.
In and out of R thigh, well above femur
Hurt like he||.
Worse then being hit by a line drive (I was a HS pitcher).

No. Showered by birdshot and a couple jacket fragments drew blood after bouncing off steel, but never actually shot. I'd like to keep it that way.
How far away and what kind of steel caused you to get hit by jackets. I started shooting steel 3 years ago, steel targets hanging from chains and at an angle and always 15 yards away or more, never got splatter yet.

I was riding my bike on the flood control berm of the Los Angeles River near Downey, California, when I passed a skeet range. The shooter must have been primed to go at the first movement, because he turned and blasted me as I went by.
My helmet and my back pack full of my work clothes and radio took most of it, but my right ear got pierced and I've still got a bird shot between the knuckles of my right hand.

Yes two times in my 62 years
First, I was with three other cousins, all of us about 12-14 years old, stealing watermelons from a farmers field for our family reunion. All 4 of us got hit with a load of rock salt in the backs and buttocks. Hurt like a SOB and burned like fire till it was washed out.

Second, I was at our local outdoor gun range shooting at hanging metal plates with a .22LR. These plates have a sign above them that state "No Magnum Handguns" Obviously someone had shot one of them since there was a .44cal dimple in one. What we determined was my .22LR bullet hit the dimple on the edge because you could see half a bullet splash and then a line where the other half followed the contour of the dimple and came right back at me and struck me in the right pectoral area of my chest. I felt a little tap but did not think anything about it until my shooting buddy said there was blood on my white t-shirt. When I pulled it up, sure enough, there was the other mangled half of the .22 round and it had just enough force left to break the skin causing it too bleed. To say my heart was beating fast is an understatement. I would never have believed that the bullet would fly true in that shape. I have always worn shooting glasses when at the range and since then so does my shooting buddy.

I have been to the movie several times and I am not interested in watching it again. I will allow this, no one really expects to get shot or stabbed, it is pretty much always a surprise when it actually happens to you. It is not fun or interesting, but it is memorable.

A shotgun blast in a street fight when I was a teenager. Fortunately it was some small bore bird shot. I don't know for certain. I remember the flash in the dark, the bang, the stinging feeling, and the running. Did not go to the hospital but the guy behind me did.
Yep, you only have to be faster than the other guy.
