Have you ever had to present/utilize a firearm to protect yourself or others?

I have never had this happen to me but a good friend of mine was riding his bicycle late at night and was beaten up by a gang of youngsters in the Northern Virginia area. Apparently he was "taking up too much of the road" and they pulled in front of him causing him to almost hit their truck. He tried to get away but they overwhelmed him. He was in the hospital for a few days with many bruises, abrasions and some broken ribs. He now carries a KT 3AT with him on his rides.

When I was a kid I shot a Copper Head snake as it was getting ready to strike a friends ankle that he almost stepped on. .22 cal if that counts?

Almost had to shoot a real upset skunk once.
Late one night in Washington state, had to show a bum that I had a knife, and not the few bucks that he seemed to believe I really had.

Came real close while working for a utility company. Neighbor got upset because I inadvertantly cut his cable, which was under my customer's house trailer (underground trespass). After I was unimpressed with his threats to tear me a new one, he emerged from his house with a bolt action rifle. Surely didn't wanna get into a gunfight with only my KelTec P32 but I reckon it was better than nothing. In the end, it was all just hollow posturing.....thankfully.

Only once rally. I didn't draw it or anything. I was taking out the trash, and the dumpster is in an alley. Not a dark evil alley or anything, but still I carry when I go outside. Two young guys about a hundred feet away started to yell at me and started to walk my direction. I purposely turned to the side when throwing the bag of trash away. They saw my .45 XD on my hip and stopped. They quietly walked the other way as I went back inside. Nothing dramatic, but the situation was defused.

A couple of times over the last twenty-five years and it works pretty well on all but the stupidest idiots. In war it works a lot better because the guns are bigger and the rules for dropping the hammer more relaxed.

In a world where cops are not inclined to help innocent citizens anymore than they are inclined to arrest criminals, guns work fine.

saw 5 people coming up my drive way at 2:30am once, (couldn't sleep and had 4 cameras set up)
(liked to not been able to get out of that recliner fast enough)

told the wife to call 911 and i went out with gun in hand,
(after thinking about that ,that could have gone very bad if they were older)

they scattered like roaches when the light came on, DA kids ran the wrong way, they went down were the road dead ends, when the law got there 2 cars and 1 chopper. all the kids were from 9-13 and miles from there area . at least some neighbors woke up and came out but made sure to stand 30 feet behind me.

kids tried to say they were never in the yard except one left his bike and then we pointed to the cameras
cops gave then a warning and sent them on there way. per order that had just went into effect by our now ex sheriff.:what:

if no crime or it is minor let them go, wth
(ie: was if they were at WM and stole a fishing lure let them go) :what:
it was not worth doing paper work and keeping the Leo's off the street.

NOW JUST WHAT LESSON DID THE KIDS LEARN...COPS AIN'T GOING TO DO NUTTEN.:fire:

another ie: was i use to cut grass for an old women, she once told me a small kid around 5 or 6 was throwing rocks at her house, she told him to stop or she would call the law,

he responded go ahead they wont do nothing.:what:

now this was from a 5-6 yr old :cuss::banghead:

Brother

I was 16 or 17. retrieved my rifle to force my older brother to get his hands of our mother. Strange thing is I forgot about it till years later when he reminded me. Probably forgot as the whole event sickened me, was ready to use it and didn't want to.
