Have you purchased anything gun related in the last three days?

Hi...
Went on a little gun shop tour today.
Picked up some Rem Oil wipes at one shop.
Essentially no primers available there...decent amount and selection of powders, they only stock 1lb containers.
Went to a couple other shops... very few primers available at one shop, none at another. Very few handguns available at any of those three shops.
Stopped at one last shop and was able to get 1000 Federal large pistol primers for $30 and a 4# jug of Unique for $80.
Did notice that they had several new and used handguns in the display case. Nowhere near the number they usually have on hand but still more than the other three shops had altogether.
All in all...a pretty good day.

I didn't buy anything, but a few months ago I gave my buddy who owns a LGS the last of my 9mm ammo. Run on ammo had just begun, and he was out. I told him we'd figure it out later. Had mentioned to him that I bought a progressive press and was loading 9mm since I'd recently bought the P228. He showed up today with a bag and said "got you some 9mm brass"
200 rounds of Federal 9mm to replace what I gave him. So I get to empty the brass before I can load it

Gun Show last weekend. Found a Savage 1907 pistol in really good condition AND a variation I didn't have. Bought it. Then a fellow came by my table and wanted to sell a BRNO commercial model rifle - '98 Mauser with cosmetic alterations - in .257 Roberts. A light, stalking rifle, but too heavy for him to carry home. So I did the Christian thing and bought it.

Couple pounds of H4831SC and a second-hand RCBS 5-0-5. I'll use the powder; the scale is for a friend.

Wife bought me Hornady's 3rd edition from Amazon for a smocking price. Published in 1980. As I was thumbing through the 3rd edition for some of my favorite cartridge's for which I reload I took the time to compare data to the 9th Hornady edition. Surprisingly, for the powders I was able to cross reference (2400 in particular) powder charges had actually INCREASED over the past 40 years for calibers .44 mag and .45 Colt (there being only one Ruger Only load option in the 3rd edition). Also surprisingly, load powder charges had decreased for .357 Mag over that time period.

Bought a 5.5" bull barreled MK IV upper from Volquartsen and it's headed to their machine shop to be threaded for a suppressor. That's the next purchase, in the works.

I have been avoiding buying more gun stuff. I’ve decided to get into wood turning to help take up some of my time, since I’m about to be officially retired. But it seems that I just can’t help myself. I stopped by the shop today and bought another striped AR lower and a P mag.
The lower is by Noreen Firearms. The shop does laser engraving and does the magazines at the store.

1500 rounds of .22 LR CCI Mini-Mags Varmint today at my local Walmart for $7.47 per 100. They had tons! Beautiful sight! Also had plenty of Federal Auto Match, CCI Standard Velocity bricks, Winchester bricks. I didn't go crazy because I want it to be there for others and I have plenty. I just like the Mini-Mag Varmints for gathering some squirrel to eat and I was running short. Poor little guys don't like those Mini-Mags out of my Mark IV. Oh, yeah... Some Caldwell Dead Shot bags and a soft case for my Ruger Mark IV.

I ordered a Schmidt und Bender 8x56 Klassik illuminated today.

When i was new to hunting years and years ago, a old hunter taught me how to hunt. He had a old mauser 96 in 8x57 js with a Swarovski 8x56 for scope.

I got to use it on a boar, a couple of beavers and on a moose hunt. I still remember i thought that this is how a rifle is supposed to be set up. And i still do to this day.

Now, the time has come for my own version of that rifle. How ever, it will be a bit more modern perhaps.

Its going to be a Sako 85 varmint laminated stainless in 308 win with the S&B 8x56. We will see if im successful in recreating some of that feeling..

@GunnyUSMC, I had the same plans for mine but the seller I bought from on GB didn’t know what he had and so I got the wrong set. Had to settle for the OEM wood stocks from my Single Six instead. I like how yours turned out.

These grips were supposed to be blems. There wasn’t a thing wrong with then.
Magman1 has been business since 1975.

Pretty good week and I even bought myself a new pocket knife...

Last Thursday we were on an overnight out of town trip with my son for a college visit. What does this have to do with reloading you ask? It happens that the hotel we’re staying at has a Cabelas across the parking lot, so yes I had to take a walk . I go inside and head straight for the ammo section, and low and behold there are a half dozen folks over there stocking the shelves. I ask if there is any 5.56 or 9mm ammo, and they tell me they just got a shipment in and it’s going on the shelves shortly, so I patiently wait and ended up getting 300 rounds of Herter’s 5.56 for $120.00. Considering the times I thought .40 cents per round was pretty good. I then headed to the reloading section and found 2 boxes of 100 Hornady .55 grain spire point boat tail bullets......should’ve bought a lottery ticket
