I'm setting up a Sig P220 (with a rail) to be a home defense handgun and would like some opinions on which tactical light to buy and if it's worth putting a set of Crimson Trace grips on it as well.

I currently have two guns with CTs on them and I like them very much. My only concern is that with the tac light turned on, will I be able to see the red dot from the CTs?

Please give me some input as to what set up you have (which brand and model number light) and how it works for you.

    Thanks :)

I have an M6X laser/light and the dot is very visable with the light! My light puts out 120 lumens with no affect on the laser dot. Since you already have the CT grips, I recommend Surefire's X200. Very bright and top notch quaility.

You don't want your tac light on while engaging your target anyway. It's for locating only. Leaving it on beyond that is marking yourself as a target. Bad idea. Momentary on, switch off, illuminate laser and fire. Move and repeat.

+1. And if I were flashing a light around, I would want to be in my left hand with my left arm fully extended out to the side. For the same reason, I would engage my CT laser (I have them on three handguns) only when preparing to fire.
