'I thought it was an impossible shot.'

Pat McManus - on describing the opening line of hunting stories he's heard.

"Slow is smooth, Smooth is fast."
Bill Jordan always said this one.. I spent an afternoon shooting with him.. What I learned from him saved me more than once.

Fifty years ago, I was pretty durned fast on the draw, now I'm only half fasst.

“If you’re having a good day, chokes don’t matter. If you’re having a bad day, chokes won’t help.”

I don’t remember who said it.
Very true no matter who said it.
On a good day I can use a turkey choke on clays. On a bad one a flak gun wouldn't help.

“perception is reality” is so wrong. Wrong on every level. Reality is reality, if your perception of reality is not reality then your perception is wrong. This one needs to go.

I'm not disagreeing.

I think the quote is 'perception is reality, reality be damned'.

The 1st I heard that quote was about 35 yrs ago. An ex Ford QA VP type on a 60 Minutes type show; he had resigned if I remember right.

He was saying that at the very top of Ford, their attitude in regards to quality was ' perception is reality, reality be damned' .... it doesn't matter what quality is in reality,,,, as long as the buying public perceives that "Quality is Job #1" (slogan used in the early 80s)

Sig lines from two THR members in memoriam who passed on a hell of a lot of knowledge here.

"Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Or all your primers in a glass jar!" rcmodel

"BA/UU/R" Dave McCracken (Buy ammo, use up, repeat)

"Slow is smooth, smooth is fast." Means take the time, at first, to get it right. Repetition will
make you faster, and if you remain smooth, you will get fast.

That's how I've always interpreted the idiom. If you try to do something faster than your skills permit, you'll screw it up, so get it right first, then work on speed once you have the fundamentals, familiarity, muscle memory.

Reach out and touch someone-AT&T long distance catch phrase we used when shooting enemy combatants from a distance.

Less filling: Tastes great beer commercial we quoted when eating bugs in survival training

No plan survives contact with the enemy.

When your short of everything (food/ammo/water) except enemies trying to kill you, your in combat!
